Sheep fattening can greatly improve the efficiency of sheep breeding, but if you do not master the correct method, sheep fattening will have a negative impact. So what should we do about fattening sheep? Do you have any points for attention?

Methods of fattening sheep:

Early fattening technique of lamb

The main results were as follows: (1) 1.5-month-old lambs were weaned and fattened in whole house: 1.5-month-old lambs weighing more than 10 kg were selected and fattened with concentrate for 1.5 months after weaning, and the body weight reached more than 25 kg at 3 months old. Technical points: ① lambs were fattened 15 days before weaning, and the feeding period was the same as the diet formula during the fattening period. Reference formula: milk powder 10%, whey powder 35.4%, corn powder 27%, barley powder 25%, yeast 2%, salt 0.4%, sugar 0.2%. ② was fed with concentrate 0.1kg-0.4kg / day and high-quality hay 0.25kg-0.5kg / day. Concentrate was fed first and then hay was fed. Feed was mixed well and fed freely without moldy forage. ③ drinking fountain or sink always keep clean drinking water, do not drink dirty water, ice water. ④ keeps the enclosure clean and dry, and hangs mineral bricks in the sheep shed or playground to allow it to eat freely. The movable trough was used in ⑤, and the height of the trough increased with the increase of lamb age. ⑥ ewes are injected with enterotoxemia vaccine before lambing or weaning, or sheep triple vaccine before fattening.

(2) fattening lambs: the mixed fattening mode of "grazing + supplementary feeding" was adopted. The formula of the diet was the same as that of 1.5-month-old weaned lambs. The lambs were fed with 0.1-0.25 kg concentrate per day, and the method of "breastfeeding + fence supplementary feeding" was adopted during the whole feeding period. At the end of the fattening period at the age of 3 months, only lambs weighing more than 25 kg were selected for fattening and other lambs were fattened or raised in general flocks. Ewes with cubs supplement 0.1-0.25 kg of corn and 0.5-1 kg of hay every day.

Fattening technique of weaned lambs

The mixed fattening mode of "supplementary feeding + grazing" was adopted. After the lambs were weaned at the age of 3-4 months, the lambs weighing more than 15 kg were fattened for 50-60 days and the lambs weighing more than 30 kg were fattened out. The lambs under 15kg were routinely raised in groups for 40-50 days, and then transferred to fattening groups for 1.5-2 months, and then fattened at the age of 7-8 months. Technical points: there is a transition period of 15-20 days before ① fattening. The early stage of the transition is mainly hay, and each change takes 3-5 days. After the end of the ② transition period, it turned to the intensity fattening period. The proportion of concentrate and roughage was 40:60 in the early fattening stage (before 30 days) and 60-65:40-35 in the later fattening stage (31-60 days). Reference formula: corn 57%, soybean meal 15%, wheat bran 9%, vegetable withered 8.5%, bran 2%, distiller's grains 6%, calcium carbonate 1.5%, calcium hydrogen phosphate 0.6%, salt 0.4%. ③ is fed twice a day, first with concentrate and then with coarse feed. 0.25-0.5 kg of mixed concentrate and 0.1-0.25 kg of hay were fed daily and grazed for 3-5 hours. After a week of weaning, ④ shearing, medicine bath, deworming.

Fattening techniques of adult sheep: in summer and autumn, choose to eliminate rams and ewes, empty ewes for more than 2 years, and lean remnant sheep to be fattened for 75-90 days. Grazing mainly, grazing 7-8 hours a day, the ratio of fine and coarse feed 35-40:65-60. Reference formula: grass powder 40%, straw 24%, corn 35%, calcium hydrogen phosphate 0.5%, salt 0.5%.

Points for attention in fattening sheep:

Health and epidemic prevention

1. Establish a sanitary disinfection system: the environment, sheephouses, utensils, personnel, etc., must be disinfected. Commonly used drugs are: 2% sodium hydroxide solution, quicklime, bleach, Lysol, 0.1% bromogeramine solution, etc. Disinfection pools are set up at the entrance of the gate and the sheep house, and vehicles and personnel entering and leaving must be disinfected.

2. Establish epidemic prevention and deworming system: newly purchased fattening sheep should be isolated for 15 days and be raised in herds with healthy sheep after confirming that they are disease-free; it is forbidden to buy sheep from epidemic areas; before buying sheep, they must be quarantined by the local veterinary department and go through the relevant formalities; regularly inject sheep triple vaccine, five vaccine, brucellosis vaccine, etc.; deworming once a year in spring and autumn, commonly used deworming drugs are levamisole, acetylaminoavermectin, Chongjing and so on.

3. Establish a reporting system of epidemic situation: discover the epidemic situation and report it in time; the epidemic area or spot should be blocked and quarantined in time.

4. It is forbidden to use veterinary drugs, additives and animal-derived feed that have not been approved by the state, and strictly implement the relevant provisions on the drug withdrawal period.

Sheep barn requirement

Fattening sheds are required to be ventilated, dry, clean, warm in winter and cool in summer, adequate lighting, good drainage and drainage conditions; sports grounds, grass racks, feeding troughs, dung and urine ditches; the sheephouse area is 0.6-0.8 square meters for each lamb and 0.8-1.0 square meters for adult sheep; the playground with twice the size of the sheep house is hardened, does not accumulate water, is easy to clean, and has a slope of 2-3 degrees. The trough can be made of wood, non-toxic plastic, cement sand and other materials. The length of the trough is 30-40 cm for each adult sheep, 20-30 cm for lambs, 20-35 cm in height, 20-25 cm in width and 10-20 cm in depth, showing a "U" shape. The slope of the bottom of the trough is 2-3 degrees, leaving drainage holes; there are walls and isolation belts around the sheep house; the sheep shed should be thoroughly disinfected before fattening. The sheep farm is equipped with a biogas tank or manure storage tank and a dry manure accumulation yard. The new sheep house requires convenient transportation, communication, water supply and power supply, which is more than 1000 meters away from main roads, processing plants, slaughterhouses and other pollution sources.
