Small-tailed Han sheep, which is a kind of animal under the subfamily Bovidae and Sheep subfamily, is a dual-purpose sheep breed for meat and fur in China. It has the advantages of rapid growth, early maturity, strong fecundity, stable genetic performance and strong adaptability. It is regarded as the "national treasure" of China, "super sheep" and "high-legged sheep" in the world. And was included in the "national livestock and poultry genetic resources conservation catalogue".

Raising small-tailed Han sheep must take good care of lambs. For female small-tailed Han sheep in grazing flock, graze close to them for a week before delivery, and pay attention to careful observation day and night to prevent lambs from being born outside the fold. The delivery room should be located in the leeward to the sun, the temperature should be kept at 8 ℃ ~ 10 ℃, and the lambs should be assisted to eat colostrum within 1 hour after delivery. Lambs that are frozen and unable to breast-feed due to poor care can be placed on a warm Kang or in warm water of 40-43 ℃, waiting for them to warm up. Small-tailed Han lambs can leave the delivery room about 5 days after birth, the mother and son are raised separately during the day, regularly breast-fed, and then raised in groups at night. Let the lamb bask in the sun at noon when the weather is clear. About 15 days after the birth of the small-tailed Han lamb, it is necessary to have feeding training and feed some digestible seedlings or high-quality hay.

The causes of prenatal paralysis of small-tailed Han sheep:

Prenatal paralysis is a common metabolic disease in small-tailed Han sheep during the first two months of prenatal life, which often occurs in ewes in late pregnancy who are too thin or overweight, especially in high-yielding ewes. Once it is not properly treated, it often results in the death of both mother and child.

Treatment of prenatal paralysis in small-tailed Han sheep:

First, it is necessary to correct acid and supplement sugar. The disease is characterized by low sugar and high ketone, and the body is accompanied by acidosis, so it is best to choose 250 ml of 5% sodium bicarbonate solution and 50% glucose 200 ml intravenous drip to increase blood sugar concentration and correct acidosis as soon as possible.

Second, phosphorus supplement should not be ignored. The treatment of this disease should pay attention to calcium and phosphorus, especially phosphorus, generally speaking, ruminants are not easy to lack calcium, the effect of simple calcium supplement is not good.

Third, induce labor in time. As the disease often occurs in high-yielding ewes, pregnant ewes are often severely malnourished due to too many lambs. If they are unable to stand up on the lying ground, labor should be induced in time to reduce the burden of ewes. Even if the lamb is born normally, the survival rate of the lamb will be low because of its weak body.

Fourth, adjuvant therapy. Suffering from sheep due to movement disorders, in order to prevent muscle atrophy can be injected with vitamin B12, appropriate to make sheep excited, can use some central stimulants such as Anna coffee, 40 minutes after infusion can not be used diuretics such as furosemide, see urine can properly supplement potassium.

Fifth, pay attention to nursing. Once the sick sheep cannot afford to lie on the ground, they should be placed alone in a thick place of bedding grass to prevent the skin at the bone edges from being worn out for a long time, turn over in time, prevent long bedsores, and feed better quality forage, etc.
