Wild duck is a kind of special bird with strong adaptability, wide diet, tolerance to rough feeding and easy to raise. Under good nutrition and feeding management, the growth rate is fast, the feed reward is high, the body weight of 60 ~ 70 days old can reach 1.3kg, and the ratio of meat to feed is 1:3. So how do you tell a wild duck from a female? How to feed the young wild ducks?

Adult wild duck, male wild duck has four male feathers in the center of its tail feathers, which are black and curled upward like hooks, with a very obvious white ring under the neck. These are the most typical characteristics of adult male wild ducks, while adult female wild ducks do not have these characteristics. Ducklings can be identified by the following methods:

1. Appearance identification. Hold the female wild duck on the hand, where the head is large, the neck is thick, the nose is long and narrow, the nose base is thick, the plane is not undulating, and the forehead hair is upright for the male wild duck, while the female wild duck has a small head, flat body, scattered tail, large and slightly round nostrils, soft nose base and supine forehead hair.

2. Action discrimination. When driving away the ducklings, the ducklings bowed their heads and stretched out their necks, and the male ducks with high, sharp and clear calls were males; the ones with high heads and low chirps were female ducks.

3. Touch the tube method. The singing tube of the male wild duck is spherical and easy to touch; the female wild duck's singing tube is the same as its upper trachea.

4. The method of turning the anus. Hold the duckling in the palm of the left hand, clamp the duck's neck with the middle finger and ring finger, make the head outward, belly up, into a supine position; then squeeze out the meconium with the right thumb and index finger, and then gently open the anus. In the case of male chicks, it can be seen that there are 3-4 cm long copulatory apparatus, while the female chicks do not.

5. Press the method of pinching the anus. The left hand grabs the duckling with its back to the sky, and the anus faces the appraiser's right hand. Gently pinch the thumb and index finger of the right hand on the outside of the anus. If it is a male, you can feel a canola-sized copulatory tube between your fingers; if you are a female, you will not feel a foreign body.
