Friends who raise peacock fish have always had a great confusion, that is, their favorite fish always have pathological changes. Usually, sick peacock fish can be treated and rarely cured, even if they are cured, their ornamental quality will be greatly reduced. Therefore, we must do a good job of defense in this respect. The common diseases of peacock fish are: 1) needle tail, 2) white spot disease "also known as melon disease", 3) rotten tail and rotten fin, 4) water mold disease "also known as white disease", 5) bacterial enteritis, 6) white head and white mouth disease, 7) vertical scale disease, 8) skin congestion and ulceration. So let's take a look at these diseases.

1) tail of needle

There are many good posts on the forum to treat the end of the needle, so I won't say any more here, just introduce some personal experience in preventing the tail of a small fish. My practice is to put the next fish in a small tank "with the original tank water" and float the big fish back to the original tank after the sashimi has finished. The small fish live here for about a week, draw the bottom twice a day and replenish the water. Remember to use the original tank water "where the small tank floats and which tank water is used" but the water for breeding fish must not be too old, it must be clean, transparent and disease-free water. In this way, the temperature will be the same, the water quality will be the same, and the water quality will have little irritation to the small fish. after replenishing the water to the small fish every day, don't forget to make up the water level in the original tank with the new water that has been dried. When the small fish grow here for a certain period of time, they can be filtered to change a larger space environment to "pour the tank". At this time, the small fish also have a certain ability to resist the external environment, first prepare a tank suitable for them, then put half of the original tank water "breeding fish" into it, then slowly pour the small tank of water into the small tank, and then use the trickle method to guide the new water at the same temperature until it reaches the water level. This is basically done, and the effect is great. Everyone can have a good time.

2) White spot disease "also known as melon disease"

The whole body of the fish is covered with small white spots below the diameter of 1mm. When the disease is serious, the body surface seems to be covered with a white film, the scales fall off, and the fins split and rot. When the Gill tissue is parasitized in large quantities, the mucus increases and the small pieces of the Gill are destroyed, affecting breathing. The fish only swim slowly on the surface of the water and will soon die. The disease generally breaks out easily in tanks with low turbid temperature of water quality. As the small melon insects have the physiological characteristics of not being resistant to high temperature, the simplest treatment is to heat up to 28 degrees and then the small melon insects can fall off and die. There is also some white spot disease caused by high temperature, which can only be treated with drugs. I usually treat it with methyl blue or mercurous nitrate. Under normal circumstances, the water should be light blue. Remember that copper sulfate should not be used for white spot disease, or it will make the fish more sick.

3) rotten tail and fin

That is, the cracking and decay of fins such as the back and tail of diseased fish. In general, the effect of yellow powder is good. "2 grams of pure powder for 100 liters of water". Others are caused by water quality, such as the burning tail caused by new water, which can be cured without any medicine. The burning tail caused by acid in water will naturally improve after changing water.

4) Water mildew is also called white disease.

Is a disease caused by fungi, water mold is a conditional pathogen, mostly saprophytic, therefore, fish injury is the inducement of the disease, when the mold invades from the fish wound, the abnormal shape can not be seen by the naked eye, when the naked eye can see, the hyphae have gone deep into the muscles, spread and spread, growing outward into woolly hyphae, like gray-white woolly wool. In general, fish without body surface injuries are not susceptible to infection. Low water temperature is also a cause of the disease. Malachite green is the best drug for the treatment of this disease, but I do not support the use of this medicine, because it is too toxic and difficult to control, and poor use will lead to a tragic end. It is recommended that when the disease is mild, add salt and yellow powder, and in severe cases, put 5 milliliters of water per 100 liters of water.

5) bacterial enteritis

The pathogen is intestinal type Aeromonas punctata. It is mainly caused by overfeeding and overeating of fish, coupled with poor culture environment and high content of organic matter in water. In the early stage of the disease, the fish had loss of appetite, dark body color, no glossiness and no obvious symptoms. In the later stage, the diseased fish showed abdominal enlargement, flabby scales, red and swollen anus, yellow ascites flow through the abdomen, and foul smell. Early enteritis with the old three consecutive days has a very good effect (must stop eating), in the middle with dysentery plus salt has a certain effect, later go to the toilet.

6) White head and white mouth disease

The pathogen is Aeromonas hydrophila. The skin pigment of the diseased fish fades from the end of the kiss to the eyeball, becoming milky white, the lips seem to be swollen, and the closure fails, resulting in dyspnea, skin erosion around the mouth, flocs adhering to it, and died soon after. The disease is very contagious, once it is found that it can be treated as soon as possible, according to my experience, early yellow powder plus salt plus dysentery has a certain effect. The specific medicine is 8 ml of methyl chloride solution per 100 liter of water for 3 consecutive days. Remember that you must change 2/3 water every day and add medicine to replenish water and increase the amount of oxygen. Recently, I heard that the effect of chlorine dioxide is also good, but I have not used it, interested friends can adapt themselves.

7) Vertical scale disease

The pathogen is Pseudomonas punctata, the scales of the front or abdomen of the diseased fish open outward, the base of the scales are swollen, forming fried scales, the liquid exudates with light pressure by hand, and the scales also fall off. Severe hyperemia, exophthalmos, enlarged abdomen, dyspnea, loss of balance, and death soon after. But the disease is not contagious. There are many causes of this disease, which are often caused by unsuitable water quality, unstable water quality and unreasonable feeding after metabolic disorder. It is recommended to give up treatment, there is no good treatment for this disease, even if it is cured, it also loses its ornamental effect. Once I had a goldfish treated with erythromycin and allicin for half a month (only this time), but the new meat grew under the scale and never went down again. It's really ugly.

8) skin congestion and ulceration

The disease is generally caused by cross-infection, with a mortality rate of more than 60%. In general, it is caused by mistakes in operation, such as the new fish did not do a good job of quarantine, cylinder An into cylinder B, and so on. What is cross infection? That is a form in which the soft-shelled turtle spreads its own bacteria to the second turtle, and the second turtle also spreads its own bacteria to the soft-shelled turtle. Even if the purchased fish is healthy, it is necessary to do a good quarantine and then close the tank, because the healthy fish itself will carry more or less bacteria, and the bacteria it carries will not get sick to other fish, but will be transmitted to other fish. Other fish will get sick as a result, and for the same reason, other fish will also spread the bacteria back to cause it to become sick, forming the symptoms of mutual infection. It is difficult to treat, so it is recommended to use 1-methylethyl + yellow powder + oxytetracycline. 2 Lottery skin cleansing + companion. (3) Taiwan Huihong's anti-cross-infection medicine.
