Red Gill disease of river shrimp is caused by Aeromonas hydrophila infection. Red Gill disease of river shrimp has caused serious trouble to river shrimp farmers. Let's take a look at how the red Gill disease of river shrimp is going on and how to treat it.

Pathogen of red Gill disease of river shrimp

According to Shen Jinyu et al. (2000), the pathogen of red Gill disease of river shrimp is Aeromonas hydrophila, Gram-negative Brevibacterium, can move, oxidase is positive, fermentation type, gas production, β-galactosidase, arginine dihydrolase, citrate utilization, indole test, acetyl methyl methanol test, gelatinase, glucose, mannitol and sucrose are all positive. Lysine, ornithine, hydrogen sulfide, urease, tryptophan, inositol, sorbitol, disaccharide and amygdalin were all negative. Healthy river prawns weighing 4-5 grams were injected with 0.1ml bacterial solution containing 3 × 106bacteria per milliliter and fed at a water temperature of 18-21 ℃. All of them died in 4-22 hours, and the half lethal amount was 1.68x104bacteria-3.95x103bacteria per shrimp.

Prevalence of Red Gill Disease in River Shrimp

The epidemic time of the disease is long, it occurs all the year round, and the peak period is from August to October. The disease is chronic, the mortality rate is generally 30%, and the mortality rate of serious disease is as high as 70%, which mainly harms adult shrimp.

Symptoms of red Gill disease of river shrimp

The main symptom is that the gills on both sides are red, which is caused by the deposition of red pigment.

Diagnosis of Red Gill Disease of River Shrimp

(1) make a preliminary diagnosis according to the symptoms and epidemic situation.

(2) the diagnosis can be detected by the examination rules of pathogenic Aeromonas hydrophila developed and established by the School of Animal Medicine of Nanjing Agricultural University.

Treatment of Red Gill Disease of River Shrimp

(1) sprinkle disinfectants for 2-3 times, it is best to choose disinfectants with no residue, such as aquatic product protection god, chlorine dioxide, iodine and so on.

(2) when the disease is serious, it should be given orally for 5-7 days. The pathogen is sensitive to norfloxacin and can be fed with granules with good stability in water for 5-7 days.

(3) after the disease was cured, quicklime was thrown in the whole pond every 2 days, and the water was adjusted to weak alkalinity, and then every 2 days, the whole pond was sprinkled with compound photosynthetic bacteria and mixed with compound photosynthetic bacteria to speed up the recovery of shrimp.
