Oncomelania hupensis, a mollusk of the family Oncomellidae, is very similar to the field snail in appearance, with large size, wide diet, strong adaptability, fast growth and reproduction and high yield. Since the advantages of Oncomelania hupensis are so obvious, what should we pay attention to in the daily management of artificial culture?

1) the snail breathes through its gills in the water. The snail will die when the dissolved oxygen is below 1.5mg per liter of water or when the water temperature exceeds 40 ℃. Increase the water flow in the high temperature season to control the rise of water temperature and ensure sufficient dissolved oxygen. It is strictly forbidden to flow into water sources polluted by pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Usually take the form of micro-running water, keep the water level at about 30 centimeters.

2) the growth and development of snail is closely related to the soil in the culture pond, especially to the acidity and alkalinity of the soil and the content of ammonia and nitrogen. Therefore, the daily management of field snail should take corresponding measures according to the specific conditions of the soil in the field snail culture pond.

3) mixed composting is an improver for soil. 100kg to 150kg compost can be applied in every 100 square meter pond to improve the soil. But compost must be mature, otherwise it will produce a lot of harmful gases and inhibit the breeding of microorganisms, thus affecting the growth and development of field snails.

4) in order to promote the rapid growth of field snails, in the high temperature season when snail feeding is exuberant in spring and autumn, new water should be injected frequently to change water frequently. It is best to use live water to irrigate the pond and cultivate it in semi-running water. Aquatic plants can also be raised in the pond, such as taro, water floating lotus and so on.

5) in cold weather, the snail hibernates in the soil. At this time, the water is changed once or twice a week, and some chopped straw is sprinkled into the water to facilitate the snail to survive the winter. Field snails are afraid of heat, not cold, and will not die if they leave the water for several days in winter.

6) there are few diseases of field snails, and the focus of daily management of field snails is to manage water and pay attention to the harm of natural enemies such as leeches and spiders, as well as to prevent predation of snails in human ponds such as ducks, cats, snakes, rats and birds.

7) the snail should be cultured in shallow water and micro-running water, and the pool water depth should be 25cm to 30cm, and the pool water should be kept flowing in the breeding season and high temperature period. When hibernating, Tian snail will dive into the mud hole and leave a round hole in the mud surface to breathe. In order to maintain sufficient dissolved oxygen in the water, change the pool water every three or four days. And do a good job of escape prevention facilities to prevent snails from escaping.

(8) the snail is very sensitive to pesticides, herbicides, oil and industrial sewage, so the daily management of snail should do a good job of prevention and avoidance. Chlorine-containing tap water should not be directly used to raise field snails.
