Last Updated: 2024/11/05, In winter, with the sudden drop in temperature and the high incidence of epidemic disease in chicken farms, it is particularly important to vaccinate chickens, especially after the disease. Some chronic and atypical infectious diseases occur first in individual chickens, and if not handled properly, chicken diseases will sweep through.

In winter, the temperature drops sharply and the chicken farm disease enters the high incidence period. It is especially important to vaccinate chickens, especially after the outbreak of chicken flock. Some chronic, atypical infectious diseases, individual chicken first, if not handled properly, will make chicken disease swept the entire chicken farm, to bring incalculable losses to farmers. If the chicken farm is discovered in time and the chickens are urgently vaccinated with vaccine (vaccine) to activate their immune system and make them immune, the susceptible chickens will become non-susceptible chickens, the development of the disease will slow down, and the chicken disease will be eliminated.

As a farm manager, you must be aware of which chicken diseases emergency vaccinations apply to?

fowlpox

If individual chickens are found to have "pox" in the flock, the whole flock of chickens shall be vaccinated immediately, and mosquitoes in the chicken house shall be killed for 3- 4 days continuously. After a few days, no new sick chickens shall appear in the flock. For chickens found late and seriously ill, even if a few chickens have their eyes sealed, emergency vaccination will have better results. However, two points should be noted: one is to isolate or eliminate some seriously ill diseases; the other is to kill mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects in the chicken house environment, and install screens on the chicken house, which can control the disease in about 1 week.

Newcastle disease

Clinically, most of them appear with atypical symptoms, generally do not show neurological symptoms, only reduce egg production, feed intake, scattered death, and some have respiratory or digestive symptoms. Emergency vaccination effect is obvious, improved after a few days, to individual severe chicken group at the same time injection of 1 part of oil vaccine, the effect is better.

Qinhuo chaos

Avian cholera is caused by Pasteurella multocida, also known as avian hemorrhagic septicemia, characterized by diarrhea and sudden death. Emergency vaccination of chickens in the early stage of the disease has a certain preventive effect. At the same time, disinfection of water tanks, feed tanks and environment can kill bacteria in the environment and quickly control the disease. Emergency vaccination with antibiotics is more effective in chickens with more deaths.

infectious laryngotracheitis

When the first chicken is found dead, all chickens in the whole farm are vaccinated urgently, and laryngotracheitis vaccine is used to spot eyes and nose drops. After a few days, death stops, symptoms disappear, and the whole flock recovers.

infectious coryza

The disease is caused by Haemophilus gallinarum, characterized by inflammation of the nasal cavity and sinus cavity of chickens and swelling of the face (commonly known as swollen head). It does not die or rarely dies, and has a greater impact on egg production. When the disease occurs, the egg production of chickens does not reach the peak or the egg production decreases during the peak period. The treatment effect with sulfonamides is ideal, but it is easy to relapse.

Usually part of the chicken first disease, medicine cured, another part of the chicken disease and disease, repeated. The number of attacks in general flocks is 2-4 times, and a few flocks are more than 5 times. When infectious rhinitis occurs, if the chickens are urgently vaccinated with inactivated vaccine, a small amount of medicine is added at the same time, and individual sick chickens are treated alone, the disease can be quickly controlled. If the number of cases is large, the whole group can also be administered.

Several problems should be paid attention to in emergency vaccination

1. The virulence of vaccine used for emergency vaccination should be appropriate. The virulence is too large, the disease is aggravated after vaccination, and the mortality of chickens rises; the virulence is too small, and the immune effect is poor. Can't control the disease.

2) The dosage should be appropriate. Too high dose causes strong reaction of chickens and increases death; too low dose causes less antigen to enter chickens and the vaccination effect is not ideal. Therefore, the virulence of the vaccine for emergency vaccination should be appropriate and the dose should be large enough without causing severe reactions in chickens.
