Techniques for improving the Survival rate of Young Rabbits
Within 2 weeks of weaning, the feed of young rabbits should be gradually transferred from the feed before weaning to the feed of young rabbits. Young rabbits grow and develop rapidly and eat more food, but their digestibility, especially for crude fiber, is weak. Therefore, the feed of young rabbits should be rich in nutrition, easy to digest, small in size, good in palatability and high in energy and protein. However, it should be noted that the higher the nutritional content, the better. Feeding with a large number of concentrate feed (high energy, high protein, low fiber) is easy to cause diarrhea and enteritis. A certain amount of roughage plays an important role in regulating the function of digestive system, and the dietary crude fiber content of young rabbits is about 12%. In order to promote the growth and development of young rabbits, appropriate amounts of vitamins, trace elements, amino acids, enzymes and antibiotics should be added to the mixture.
Young rabbits have a strong appetite and are prone to gluttony. Feeding should be fixed and quantitative, and less frequently, it is appropriate to feed 4 times and 5 times a day, usually 2 times a day with mixed concentrate and 2 times 3 times with green feed. The feed must be clean, the green feed must be fresh and tender, and the grass with soil must be washed and dried before feeding. The amount of feeding should gradually increase with the increase of age and weight.
At the same time, we should also ensure the supply of adequate and clean drinking water, generally drinking water once a day in winter and twice a day in other seasons. When the temperature is high, clean water should be kept constantly and drinking water should be changed frequently. It is best to maintain 2-3 hours of outdoor exercise time every day to promote digestion, improve appetite, promote calcium and phosphorus absorption, and improve disease resistance of young rabbits.
