In the same case of diarrhea, the mortality rates of piglets and big pigs are quite different, even without much effect on big pigs, but it is a fatal disease for piglets; this is the case with epidemic diarrhea in recent years; why on earth is this?

First of all, the proportion of water in piglets is large, which can account for more than 80% of the body.

Second, the piglet's stomach and intestines are very thin, and if the villi of the small intestine are destroyed, the intestines will be left with a very thin layer, which will be perforated in severe cases, so that the pig will die more quickly.

There is a phenomenon that no one has noticed, that is, the number of diarrhea in big pigs is much less, while that in piglets is very high, which is directly related to the anus.

The anus of the big pig has a mature sphincter, which can be controlled by the pig, and whether the pig defecates is controlled; if the pig controls the number of times of defecation, the water in the intestines will be absorbed into the body again; therefore, the diarrhea and dehydration of the big pig is often not serious; but the anal sphincter is not well developed and the control is very weak; once diarrhea occurs, there will be the phenomenon of mania.

The congenital problem cannot be solved, but we can control pig defecation through drugs; it is impractical to control the anal sphincter, and there is no specific medicine; but we can use drugs to control gastrointestinal peristalsis. Atropine sulfate has this function.

Atropine sulfate is an anticholinergic drug that binds to M-choline receptor and antagonizes the muscarinic effect of acetylcholine and other cholinergic drugs. It mainly relieves the spasm of smooth muscle, inhibits glandular secretion, relieves the inhibition of vagus nerve on the heart, accelerates the heartbeat, dilates pupils, increases intraocular pressure, and excites the respiratory center. Clinical use: rescue infection toxic shock, relieve organophosphorus pesticide poisoning, as syndrome and visceral colic, can also be used for pre-anesthesia administration, mydriasis or treatment of keratitis, iritis and so on. Combined with morphine to treat liver and kidney colic.

Atropine sulfate treatment of diarrhea, is to slow down gastrointestinal peristalsis, gastrointestinal peristalsis, there is no power to defecate, the pig will not crazily pull.

Therefore, atropine sulfate is often used in the treatment of piglet diarrhea.
