Breeding skills of Western Duck

Muscovy ducklings are more heat-resistant than water ducks and need higher ambient temperature. generally, the temperature should reach 35 ℃ at the age of 1 day, drop by 1 ℃ a day, and de-warm at the age of 20 days or 20 ℃, so attention should be paid to heat preservation during the duckling period. In addition, Muscovy ducklings often sleep in large piles at night in the first 10 days or so, which can easily cause death. Therefore, when raising young muscovy ducks, the number of ducks in each cubicle should not exceed 200, and the ducks in the yard pile should be removed every hour until the day when the duck flock is not.

Muscovy ducklings can be fed with chopped rice, feeding ducklings in the early stage, feeding ducklings in the middle, and feeding big ducks in the later stage or adding 10% beating rice bran (excluding the by-products other than rice when beating rice with a rice beater, containing a small amount of broken rice, rice bran and a large amount of rice husk bran, the crude protein is about 3%). Newborn ducklings should first use bell drinking fountains for drinking water, and then use chopped rice or chopped corn to "feed". Chopped rice or chopped corn should be scorched with boiling water in advance and fed in a trough all day after cooling.

At present, Muscovy ducks are generally fed with water duck series feed by farmers. From the 4th day, ducklings with not less than 19% crude protein were gradually increased, and at the age of 6 days, all ducklings were fed with 19% pellets instead of corn or broken rice. At the age of 30 days, the Chinese ducks were fed with not less than 16% crude protein, and the 60-day-old ducks were fed with not less than 15% crude protein. If the duck feathers don't grow fast enough, 10% beating rice bran can be added to the duck feed after 60 days of age.

Foreign ducks are aggressive, if the feeding environment is crowded, filthy, poor air circulation, and feeding separately, it is very easy to peck and fight in winter and spring, and sometimes ducks peck each other with blood. Therefore, the front part of the duckling's beak should be cut off within 1 week, and the cross section should be disinfected with iodine or soldering iron. In rural areas, some duck farmers in the middle and later stages of open or water bath breeding, ducklings do not need to cut off their beaks.

In the middle and later stages of feeding, foreign ducks discharge a large amount of feces, which is very easy to pollute the duck house, so special attention should be paid to the cleanliness and hygiene of the duck house. If it is raised in hot days, the duck house should be washed with water more than 2 times a day; if it is raised in cold days, it should be covered with straw and rice husks more than 3 times a day, and do not let Muscovy ducks sleep on dung. Otherwise, the feathers of the duck's chest and abdomen will rot away, or become dung ducks.
