Long-distance transportation of live pigs is very common in the production process, the procurement of young pigs, breeding pigs, fat pigs sent to the slaughterhouse, etc., tens of kilometers of short distance, hundreds of kilometers of long distance, especially a lot of cross-provincial transfer of fat pigs. In the process of transportation, due to high temperature, bumpy extrusion, pig fighting, over-feeding or hunger and thirst, live pigs will be stressed, which can easily lead to the decline of pig resistance, disease and even death of pigs, and adversely affect the quality of slaughtered meat. Easy to reduce the quality of pork.

Long-distance transportation of pigs in summer leaves a small amount of space in each pig cage to ensure ventilation and avoid overcrowding and lead to pig fights; in high temperature weather, the roof should be covered with sunscreen equipment, preferably in the low temperature period at night or in the early morning, and during the day transportation should check the mental condition of pigs in the rest area and make full use of water spray to cool down.

Check the health of each pig before loading the pig, do not knock or fall out of the car when loading and unloading the pig, reduce the stimulation to the pig group as much as possible, and drive the pig on the bus conditions allow the pig herd to face outward; before transporting pigs, pigs should be fasted or fed with a small amount of feed, but sanitary drinking water should be provided.

Avoid emergency brakes during transportation, it is best to drive at a uniform speed, emergency brakes can easily lead to pig herds squeezing, but also cause fights, if squeezing occurs, it should be dealt with as soon as possible to drive away the squeezed pigs. At the same time, because of the layered loading of pigs, the center of gravity of transport vehicles will be too high. Drivers should be reminded to pay attention to driving safety and avoid sharp corners at high speed. Every year, there are many accidents of overturning of pig-loading vehicles, resulting in a lot of losses.

Both fat pigs and breeding pigs and young pigs need to pay attention to these problems during transportation, and they also need to do a good job in vehicle disinfection. If they are breeding pigs or young pigs, in addition to the usual cleaning and disinfection, they should also be left vacant for a period of time to disinfect the vehicles with different disinfectants again.
