Crocodiles are more ferocious animals in our impression, not that we are preconceived, but that crocodiles give us a ferocious image, whether on TV or in zoos. In fact, now some farmers have begun to raise crocodiles.

The latest scientific crocodile culture technology

1. Fish pond facilities

(1) crocodiles are cultured in soil ponds with a total area of 225mu, each pond area of 1-2mu, flat bottom, silt ≤ 20CM, water depth of 1Murray 1.5m. There is a 1-meter-high fence around the fish pond to prevent crocodiles from running and outsiders from entering. The ratio of water surface to land area in the fence is about 1:1, which is beneficial to the growth of crocodiles.

(2) Feed fish (tilapia, silver carp, bighead carp) are cultured in soil ponds with a total area of 165mu, each pond area of 8-10mu, flat bottom, silt ≤ of 20cm and water depth of 1.5m.

2. Crocodile species the main breeds of crocodiles are Siamese crocodile, Nile crocodile and bay crocodile.

3. Clear the pond and disinfect the fish pond after drying the bottom of the dry pond, clean the pond with quicklime before releasing the seedlings and regulate the water quality.

4. A quality control working group is set up in the water body monitoring base, which is responsible for quality and safety monitoring. In particular, strict control measures should be implemented on the environment around the aquaculture waters of the base, and the personnel of the quality control team of the base should pay close attention to whether the changes of spraying pesticides, water sources, and water quality in the surrounding farmland do harm to the aquaculture production of the base, and the fishery administration and environmental protection departments should actively cooperate. Once a pollution accident is found, remedial measures shall be taken in time to prevent the production of the base from being affected. We entrust Guangdong Fisheries quality Supervision and Inspection Center to carry out the "Evaluation report on the present situation of Environmental quality of pollution-free Agricultural products producing areas" on the water body of the base and its surrounding environment. The report concludes that the water quality of aquaculture water in this base meets the requirements of "pollution-free food freshwater culture water quality" (NY5051-2001).

5. Selection of fish fry

① chooses healthy, disease-free, certified self-breeding or crocodile seedlings imported from Thailand for stocking.

② selected healthy and disease-free tilapia, silver carp, bighead carp and other seedlings for stocking.

6. Stocking density 200-300 crocodile fry with a body length of 30m / mu (3m / mu, 10kg) are released. The stocking density of forage fish (tilapia, silver carp, bighead carp) is carried out according to the routine.

7. Feeding mode

All ① crocodiles were fed with fresh feed fish (tilapia, silver carp, bighead carp), and fresh water was injected into fish ponds regularly. The practice of catching large and staying small, that is, crocodiles reaching more than 30 kilograms each, will be captured and processed on the market, and those who do not meet the listing specifications will continue to be cultured by stages.

The feed of ② tilapia, silver carp and bighead carp is mainly mixed feed, corn, wheat husk, etc., fed scientifically, regularly with quicklime, beneficial microorganisms and water quality improver, equipped with aerator and pump to increase oxygen and change water. The practice of catching large and staying small means that the catch that meets the feed specification is provided to the crocodile as feed, and those that do not meet the specification will continue to be cultured by stages.

The significance of crocodile culture

1. Biological significance

Crocodiles are rare animals in the world with a life history of more than 200 million years and are closely related to dinosaurs. Its physiological function is peculiar and its vitality is tenacious. Dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago, but crocodiles survived and evolved to this day. Crocodiles have a substance that optimizes nucleic acid, which invigorates nucleic acid and enhances disease resistance, while activating enzymes and SOD in the body to effectively remove garbage from the body, thus delaying life aging and making it live longer than turtles, averagely up to 150 years old.

The amino acid chain of hemoglobin in the muscle of crocodiles has a very strange structure, so that the oxygen carrying capacity of hemoglobin in crocodiles is more than 100 times that of other animals, so although crocodiles breathe with their lungs, they are much better at holding their breath in water than whales and dolphins. Therefore, fresh fish culture is carried out. It is of great significance to study biological evolution, reproduce endangered animals, expand their population and number, protect the ecological environment, and explore the role of their special physiology in human medicine.

2. Economic value

Crocodiles are covered with treasures and have a reputation for soft gold. Modern scientific research shows that crocodile meat, bone and viscera are rich in protein and amino acids, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and a variety of rare biological elements, which are rich in nutrition, delicious in taste, and can nourish qi and blood, strengthen muscles and bones, and improve human immunity.

Crocodile meat is not only a delicacy but also a good medicine for asthma; crocodile eggs, tail glue, viscera, bone and tongue are excellent antifreeze and beauty products; and the genitals of male crocodiles are a special medicine for invigorating yang and tonifying kidney. Alligator skin is of high price and high quality. it can be made into leather bags, belts, handbags and shoes, worth thousands or tens of thousands of yuan, and is loved by people. Therefore, crocodile breeding can promote the development of food industry, leather industry, health care industry, beauty industry and so on.

3. Sightseeing

Crocodiles not only have a high economic price, but also have a very attractive ornamental value. The establishment of a fresh fish viewing garden can not only change people's traditional view of crocodiles, visitors visit crocodile eggs hatching, growing, mating and other living habits, increase animal knowledge, but also watch tense and exciting human crocodile exercise table performances. really set tourism, knowledge, fun in one. Therefore, to carry out crocodile breeding, and closely combined with the tourism industry, will achieve better economic and social benefits.

The appearance characteristics of crocodiles

According to archaeological findings, the largest crocodile is 12 meters long and weighs nearly 10 tons, but the average body length of existing large crocodiles is more than 3 meters and weighs more than 100kg. The jaw is strong and powerful, with many conical teeth, short legs, claws, and webbed toes. The tail is long and thick, and the skin is thick with scales.

The habitat of crocodiles

Live in fresh water (bay crocodiles can live in sea water). In addition to a few crocodiles living in temperate zones, most crocodiles live in rivers, lakes and watery swamps in tropical and subtropical regions, as well as in shoals near the coast.

It turns out that raising crocodiles is of great significance in biology, economics and tourism. In biology, crocodile farming can expand the crocodile population; in economics, crocodiles have a special role in almost every part of the body, which will benefit human beings in the economic field; and in tourism, crocodiles in zoos will also attract more tourists.
