Hamster is a kind of rodent, which is distributed in many countries in the world and is a common animal. The shape of the hamster is relatively small, and it is very interesting to raise, so now many people like to raise it. However, before breeding, many people want to have a comprehensive understanding of its breeding technology.

How to raise a hamster

1. Raising hamsters can use a 50cm square trough for raising tropical fish, which is covered with barbed wire (it is easy to be muggy in summer, so pay attention to it). When using a wire cage, the hamster grabs the wire and climbs upward, and there is a risk of falling, so it is best that the cage is not very high, and the wire at the bottom of the cage should be removed and used. Cover the bottom of the cage with wheat straw, hay, sawdust or detailed notes, etc. The feeding basin can be made of pottery, preferably heavier. It can provide some branches for gnawing to prevent the teeth from growing too long. The nest box can be made of wood or paper. In addition to the ones attached to the cage, the bird's nest box can also be used. The nest box is covered with hay, sawdust, rags, etc. The sink does not shave its feet, but it is easy to accumulate moisture, so pay attention to keeping it dry. In addition, the sink is deep enough to put in a large amount of wheat straw, hay and other cage materials that hamsters can sneak in, put on the soil, and then cover it with hay. Create a very natural environment where hamsters can dig holes to make nests.

2. A water feeder is available for drinking water, which is installed at a height that is easy to drink, and water is added to the dish-shaped water tank. The hamster has a habit of defecating in a fixed place. Put a bedpan in the place where it is often drowned, and put urine or dung in it to make the bedpan stink, and it will use it as a toilet. Don't force it if you don't use the toilet, just pay attention to cleaning the cage regularly.

3. Hamsters have the habit of storing food in their cheeks. Pay attention to changing the water frequently. Wash the food basin and water feeder every day and replace fresh food and water. And change the nest material. Check the nest box and leave some food such as fruit or solid feed for the hamster to eat where the hamster stores food. Change the bottom dressing once a week, wash the cage once or twice a month and disinfect it.

Can two hamsters be raised together?

You can't keep two hamsters together. Hamsters are very strong solitary animals, different from gregarious animals, with a strong sense of territory, especially female hamsters. Hamsters mate in pairs only when the breeding season comes, but hamsters only mate for a few minutes, and then go their separate ways. After that, the mother mouse will assume the responsibility of taking care of the child on its own, and the children will be forcibly deported by the mother rat to live on their own in about 20 days. But very few species of hamsters can be raised together, and the success rate is not 100%.

Matters needing attention in raising hamsters

The temperature in the sink is easy to rise in hot summer, so it is best to move to a cage in summer. Put the cage in a well-ventilated place and be careful not to let the sun shine directly. When hot, hamsters do not like to eat solid diets and should be fed with vegetables and other foods rich in water. When storing grain in autumn, don't forget to check the nest box frequently to prevent hamsters from going into hibernation because of low temperature. When you put it in a heated room, make sure that the temperature difference between day and night is not too big. You can put a plastic bag on the cage, or put the cage in a cardboard box to keep warm.

What kind of feed do hamsters eat?

1. Vegetables: green vegetables, carrots, spinach, cucumbers, cabbages, melons and so on.

2. Seeds: sunflower seeds, peanuts, walnuts, pine nuts, etc.

3. Fruits: apples, strawberries, cherries, etc.

4. Cereals: chicken feed, bird feed, wheat, corn, millet and so on.

5. Plants: dandelion, kudzu, plantain, etc.

6. Animals: beef, chicken, milk, yogurt, bread worms, barley worms, etc.

Hamsters in breeding must pay attention to the cleanliness of the water quality, but also need to adjust the temperature according to different seasons. Hamsters are animals that like to live alone, so they are generally kept alone, not a few at a time. When it comes to feeding, choose what it likes to eat.
