It is difficult for ordinary river mussels to grow pearls, generally choose pearl clams or Hyriopsis cumingii, insert nuclei in two years, plant pieces in three years, and grow about 500 grams of seedless pearls in 80-120 Hyriopsis cumingii from five years. Culture method: it is better to culture by single hanging method. The environment of the clam's water requires sunny ventilation, water depth of more than 1m, no aquatic plants, weak running water, neutral water quality, preventing toxic sewage from entering the bead farm, and keeping the mussel in the water layer with the most abundant food.

You must be very familiar with the pearl, it has a high ornamental value, has been made into a variety of jewelry, deeply loved by female friends. And pearls can also be ground into powder, with whitening and freckle effect. We all know that pearls are generally produced in mussels, so what can be done to grow such long pearls?

How do mussels grow pearls?

I. Culture methods

1. The culture area of ponds should be adjusted to local conditions. Small ponds are 3-5 mu, and large ponds are from 10 mu to dozens of mu. The water quality is generally more fat and bait organisms are rich. Grass carp, carp and crucian carp can be mixed in the pond. Competitive fish such as silver carp should not be released. Do not breed carnivorous fish such as herring and snakehead.

2. The pollution-free river should be selected, with sufficient oxygen, fresh water quality, flowing water and sufficient material exchange, which is suitable for the growth of Hyriopsis cumingii.

3. If you choose lakes, reservoirs, etc., the water area should be larger, and the shallow waters along the bank or bend should be selected for pearl clam culture, with good water fluidity, clear water quality and rich dissolved oxygen.

II. Points for attention

The main results are as follows: 1. Three points should be paid attention to in culturing pearl clam: water quality environment, clam culture technology and variety selection for mixed culture of fish beads.

2. When culturing pearl clams, fish can be mixed in culture ponds, such as crucian carp, silver carp, silver carp, yellow spicy fish, etc., but not ferocious fish such as catfish and mullet.

3. In mixed culture of fish, do not mix fish with diseased pearl clam, otherwise it will lead to the death of pearl clam and fish. If sick pearl clam occurs, it should be treated with medicine in time.

Culture technology of clam

1. Culture methods: at present, hanging culture and cage culture are mostly used in clam culture. The methods of hanging and raising include single raising and string raising of more than two clams on the same line. The number of cages depends on the size of the cage (net cage, net clip), and it is generally appropriate that each clam can touch the bottom of the cage.

2. Stocking density: the general mu culture ponds of pearl clams are 800,800 and 1200, respectively. The culture density depends on the body weight and fatness. The physical, chemical and biological factors such as water flow and water depth increase or decrease appropriately with the size of the mussel.

3. Strengthen water quality management: when raising mussels in closed still waters without running water, it will cause anoxic death after high temperature, shallow water and low pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to add water in time, change water or maintain fresh water quality and sufficient oxygen content, so as to avoid slow growth of mussel and beads under hypoxia and hypoxia.

4. removal of attachments: after being hoisted for a period of time, pearl clams often attach a large number of attached mud and organisms (such as algae, freshwater sponges, condensed worms, etc.) to net cages, net bags and mussel bodies, which affect the growth of pearl clams and must be cleaned regularly. Rinse every other month from April to October.

What kind of food does clam eat?

The main food of clam is unicellular algae, protozoa and organic detritus, such as rotifer, flagellate, green eye, green alga, Scenedesmus, navicular algae, dinoflagellate, tetragonal algae, spindle diatom, rod star algae, crustacean residue and plant leaves, etc. Diatoms are the main ones that are easily digested.

Clam can not actively chase food, rely on the opening and closing of the clam shell, the swinging of the inner mantle cilia and Gill cilia cause the current, and the food enters the clam body with the water. The food enters the mantle cavity with the water, the particles move upward along the Gill filament to the base of the Gill, and then move forward to the lip flap. After the lip flap selection, the small particles enter the mouth, while the large particles move backward from the edge of the inner Gill. At the intersection of the two gills, they enter the mantle scar to the back end, and the two shells are suddenly closed out of the body.

Habitat of clam

In the natural environment, clams generally live in muddy, sandy or gravel, such as rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, etc. When it is cold in winter and spring, the axe foot is used to dig mud fen, so that part of the clam body is buried in the sediment, the front ventral edge is down, the back edge is up, and only the rear edge of the shell is exposed for breathing and feeding. When it is hot, most of it is exposed to the mud. Anodonta generally lives in still water with a pH value of 5-9 or slow-flowing fertile water on a muddy bottom.

About the clam culture method first introduced here, I hope it will be helpful to everyone. Although mussels can grow pearls, not every clam can grow. There are certain reasons for its formation, so we still need to maintain the Buddha mentality.
