It is said that many people have raised geckos at home before. Anyway, I have not. Do you know how to raise geckos? How to raise geckos at home? It is not like a cat or a dog. It can be kept in a cage. It looks very suitable for crawling. Next, let's introduce the culture technology of gecko to you.

How to raise gecko

1. Small gecko's new home: this is determined according to the size of the gecko. I directly use plastic lunch boxes. The feeding boxes can be kept dry as far as possible. They can be covered with soil at the bottom and put some rough stones. Don't put too many stones. Just let the geckos hide. In addition, it is best to put a few small stones alone, which must be rough, because gecko molting needs rough things to grind, and rough stones can help gecko molt.

2, the source of life water: you can find a mineral water bottle or beverage bottle lid, do not need to pour too much, put a little boiled water in the lid, put on the bottom, the gecko will drink it when it is thirsty. The gecko looks cute when drinking water, and its little tongue sticks out very long. I can't take a clear picture. I'll take a look at it with a picture from the Internet.

3. Food is the most important thing for geckos: it doesn't matter if geckos don't eat for 3-4 days. Adult geckos are advised to feed with things like crickets and cockroaches. Generally, 7-8 geckos are fed. Larval geckos should not try not to feed crickets and cockroaches. The food given to young geckos is generally not larger than the head of geckos. Flies, mosquitoes, spiders and other things are fine. Moths can also be small. To give you a heavy recommendation to feed the young gecko is the moth midge! (see picture below) I usually have this at home. I use a small plastic bottle to hold insects such as moth midges and mosquitoes, and then shake it in the bottle and throw it in front of the gecko. The gecko will swallow it. My little plastic bottle is the kind of small plastic bottle that used to put cotton swabs. Of course, I don't have to use this kind of plastic bottle. Other small plastic bottles can also be used. Feed flies, mosquitoes, moths, midges, this kind of flying insects must shake the faint in the bottle and throw it in front of the gecko, otherwise the gecko is very tired to catch, spoil it.

4. If the gecko you catch refuses to eat for almost a week, please put it back where you caught it, because the gecko I caught this year (pictured below) can only be released because it refuses to eat. If you encounter a gecko that refuses to eat, it is easier for the young gecko to start eating than the adult gecko, so I suggest you raise the baby gecko.

Culture technology of gecko at home

1. Build a field

The gecko house should be built in a dry, ventilated, cool and quiet place. The area depends on the scale of feeding, generally 4 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, 2.2 meters high, each room can raise 400 geckos. Gecko activity should be built on the top of the breeding house, 1.2 meters high, surrounded and surrounded by barbed wire. The breeding room is connected with the activity field, so it is convenient for gecko to get in and out. A 20-watt black light is installed at the top of the activity field, which is turned on to trap insects, and a funnel is installed below. The insects fall into the activity ground through the funnel for gecko to eat. Clear water is placed in the room for gecko to drink. Set up a small pool for the gecko to take a bath. The four walls of the room are pasted with a layer of papyrus and hung with a number of linen pieces to facilitate gecko spawning and concealment.

2. Feeding

There are several sources of gecko feed, such as trapping, artificial feed and artificial compound feed. Yellow powder insects, fly maggots and ground turtles are usually raised, and these nutritious insects are placed on the plate for gecko feeding. When there is a shortage of live food, geckos should be trained to eat artificial feed. Boil the corn, rice, pumpkin and wax gourd, make it into a paste and put it on a plate. During the feeding period, no insects are fed, no water is given, and geckos feed heavily when they are hungry. The best feeding time is in the evening.

3. Reproduction

The gecko provenance can buy gecko species weighing about 150 grams in the farm where gecko is raised, or it can be caught in the wild in the mountains. The gecko generally resumes its activity in April and carries out the first mating and spawning in early May. Gecko breeds with a female-to-male ratio of 5:1, allowing them to mate freely. The male and female can be distinguished by turning the anus, and the male gecko cloaca has triangular protuberances. Two eggs are laid at a time, spawning 3 or 4 times a year. Gecko eggs are laid with a soft shell and are exposed to air for half an hour before they harden. Gecko eggs are hatched at a natural temperature of more than 30 ℃, with an incubation period of 50 to 60 days. The baby gecko is 7-8 mm long when it hatches and can find its own food 3-5 days later. Feed some rice soup, sugar water and skim milk powder within a week, and a week later, you can feed some boiled chopped egg yolks, bugs, etc., and timely transfer to the small gecko house to prevent being hurt by the male gecko. It can be raised in groups after a month. Geckos weigh 150 to 200 grams a year.

4. Management

In addition to timely feeding and water supply, we should also pay attention to disease prevention, heat prevention and cold resistance. Disinfectants should use highly effective drugs with mild odors, such as Baidu, etc. The feeding density should be 40-50 strips per square meter, and the operation should be light to avoid disturbing the gecko and reduce stress as much as possible. In summer, you can spray water inside and outside the house, hang wet gauze at the air inlet to dissipate heat, increase ventilation, cover the roof with thick grass and get wet. Gecko hibernates in winter, pay attention to cold resistance and warmth, such as closing doors and windows, thickening the cloth on the wall, reducing water plates, and so on.

Matters needing attention in keeping gecko

1. Irradiation: geckos are mostly nocturnal animals and do not need too much ultraviolet light. Geckos generally do not need to use fluorescent lamps to raise, because most geckos are nocturnal animals. However, some people use fluorescent lamps to provide a natural day and night environment. Imagine that although they will not be active during the day, they can also let it know that it is a time to rest during the day. Be sure to provide caves for it to hide, otherwise it will put a lot of pressure on it.

2. Food: the gecko's main food is insects (such as crickets, breadworms, etc.), and small mice can be given protein supplements in adults.

3. Cage: the gecko's feeding box does not need to be too high, because they do not like to climb up, but it is best to cover the top with ventilation.

4. Others: geckos generally absorb the water they need from food. Just put a small basin in the feeding box, they will drink water automatically, or they can spray water slightly on the wall of the feeding box. Spray water slightly once a day in the feeding box to maintain humidity, which can prevent the gecko from peeling hard due to insufficient humidity. Putting grass moss in the cave can also increase humidity.

Putting grass moss in the cave can also increase humidity. Geckos grow faster under tiles.

After reading the above-mentioned home version of gecko breeding technology, many people are eager to go to the pet market to buy a gecko to raise, ah, but in line with the attitude of being responsible for life, if it is only a temporary interest, do not raise it. If you really want to take good care of it, then raise it.
