Grass carp culture should choose places with sufficient water source and good water quality. Grass carp are generally fed with conventional feed and bait.

Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) is a kind of economic fish, which circulates very quickly in the market. the general culture cycle is about 3 years. Grass carp can grow about 60g in the first year, 700g in the second year and 3kg in the third year.

Feeding and management of grass carp

1. Throw in and feed

The main work of raising grass carp is to feed the pond, which can be divided into two kinds: conventional feed and drug bait. Feeding is mainly the use of manual fixed-point feeding, according to quality, quantity, timing, fixed-point feeding work.

Conventional feed was fed about 4 times a day from March to May, 3 times a day from June to August, and 4 times a day from mid-August to October. Starting from June every year, we should feed green fodder once a day, the amount should not be too large, strictly prevent oversaturation and hunger, with appropriate amount.

The bait is mainly fed with floating feed made of sulfonamide guanidine. When feeding, the bait was evenly mixed into the pellets and fed according to the body weight of the fish in the pond. On the first day, the dosage was 1g per 10kg according to the body weight of the fish, and the dose was halved from the second day to the sixth day, once a day for a cycle, that is, about one and a half months.

2. Methods of water quality management

Disinfect with quicklime regularly and disinfect it every half a month according to 20kg per mu per meter of water depth. You can also use bleach to sprinkle the whole pool for disinfection.

The water in the pond is added or changed regularly, and new water needs to be added every 10 days, and the depth of new water injection is about 30cm. In the middle of July, the water in the culture pond should be changed once according to the actual situation.

June to August every year belongs to the hot season, this season grass carp is prone to hypoxia, need to turn on the aerator every day. Patrol the pond every day to keep abreast of the activities and eating of the fish. We should also pay close attention to the water quality of the pond, clean up the sundries in the pond regularly, fish out the remaining feed and leaves of grass carp in time, deal with and prevent problems in time, and reduce unnecessary losses.
