Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Using flowing water to culture grass carp can shorten its growth cycle and increase its yield. Culture ponds should be circular, sector or oval, and constructed at locations with sufficient water, clear water and appropriate water temperature, such as pollution-free and continuous spring flow.

The selection of running water culture of grass carp can shorten their growth cycle and increase their yield. It is best to build a culture pond in a round, fan-shaped or oval shape, and choose to build it in a location where the water source is adequate, the water quality is clear and the water temperature is suitable, such as around a pollution-free, continuous mountain spring water system or near a power plant where waste hot water can be used, relevant facilities are built in the pond, larger fish fry are selected for release, disease prevention and daily management can be done.

Intensive high-density culture of grass carp in artificially controlled water bodies can shorten their growth cycle, accelerate their growth rate, and increase their yield and economic benefits.

Generally speaking, the output of running water fish culture is about 40% higher than that of conventional fish culture. because our country is rich in water resources, such as reservoirs, rivers, mountain streams, and so on, it is convenient for running water fish culture; the water from running water fish ponds can also be used to irrigate farmland, saving water resources to a certain extent, and has a good development prospect. It is a new culture technology vigorously promoted in our country at present.

1. Choose a place for fish culture in running water

It is best to choose the place where the water source is sufficient, the water quality is clear, the water level is stable, and the water temperature can be maintained between 15-30 ℃ from May to October. Sufficient light, sufficient oxygen content in the water and convenient transportation of feed and fish species are required.

Aquaculture ponds are best built near power plants where there is a natural drop and can refer to reservoirs, irrigation canals, self-fluidizing streams, pollution-free, continuous mountain spring water systems or power plants that can make use of waste hot water. In this way, the use of running water to cultivate grass carp can reduce costs and increase benefits to a certain extent.

2. Pond construction and area

The pond of running water fish culture had better be round, fan-shaped or oval, so that the water can circulate and there is no dead corner. The wall of the pool is piled with edible bricks or stones, the surface is flattened with cement, the bottom is leveled with concrete, and the pool stem is built sturdily, and the water inlets and outlets in the pool should be built into a slope to guide the water flow to the bottom to rush down and turn the pool water. to ensure that the bottom water is exchanged and discharged smoothly.

The area of the pond where the water source can flow by itself had better be controlled at about 40-100 inches, and if the water source needs power extraction, the area should be controlled at about 20-40 inches. The sewage outlet and the discharge outlet in the fish pond should be set separately, the inlet and outlet should be installed to prevent the fish from escaping, and the mesh size should be selected according to the specifications of the fry.

3. Release fish fry

Running water fish culture is beneficial to water exchange, increase the oxygen content in water, and improve the metabolism, digestion and absorption capacity of fish. Increasing the density of fish appropriately during culture can increase the yield.

The fish fry should be disinfected by sprinkling quicklime in the net pond according to the proportion of 120g/ fish before putting them into the pond. Soak and disinfect the fish with 3% salt solution for 5 minutes before putting them into the pond. 10% of carp or carp can be mixed in the pond when raising grass carp. Choose the fish species with specifications of about 150g-400g, and the density can be controlled at about 5-10 pieces / fish.

4. Daily management

When raising fish in running water, it is best to choose the surface water with high water temperature and oxygen content in the natural water body. The amount of fish culture should be a little larger, but the flow rate should not be too high. If the flow rate is too high, the difficulty of feed feeding will be increased, and the physical exertion of fish will also increase.

Grass carp are mainly fed with green fodder such as water grass, land grass, pumpkin leaves, bean leaves and so on. in order to meet the nutrition needed for grass carp growth, it is necessary to add some concentrate feed and artificial compound feed. In the first few days of releasing fish fry, the daily feed should account for 3% of the total weight of fish. With the continuous growth of fish fry, the amount of feed should be increased to 5-7% of the total weight of fish, usually every 2 hours.

In the process of breeding, grass carp should be vaccinated to prevent disease, and the pond should be discharged and disinfected every 2 days, once a day when the weather is hotter. Check the escape prevention facilities around the pond every day. If there is any damage, repair it in time, and observe more grass carp.
