River shrimp have strong adaptability to temperature, they can survive at the water temperature of 0-40 ℃, 10-30 ℃ is their growth water temperature, and 25-28 ℃ is the most suitable water temperature for their growth. When the water temperature is above 10 ℃, the river shrimp will begin to eat, and with the increase of water temperature, their feeding ability will be stronger; when the water temperature is lower than 8 ℃, the feeding condition of river shrimp will obviously decrease, or even stop eating.

River shrimp have higher requirements for oxygen content in the water, and their suffocation point is higher than that of fish. as long as there is not enough oxygen in the water, they will float, and some soft-shell shrimps will even die.

Matters needing attention in culturing river shrimp

1. Pond selection: the pond area of river shrimp culture is generally controlled at about 3-5 mu, and the water depth is about 1.5-2.5 m.

It is required that the fresh water source is adequate, the water quality is clear and pollution-free, the bottom of the pond is preferably sandy, and the pond where river shrimp has been cultivated is the best.

2. Preparation work: seven days before the shrimp seedlings were put into the pond, the impurities were filtered with a sieve net and fertilized with base fertilizer to cultivate sufficient natural bait for the river shrimp. Generally speaking, the release of shrimp seedlings is carried out in late May. Before release, the shrimp seedlings are temporarily raised in fresh water for a week to adapt. The natural bait in the water within one month after putting them into the pond is enough for them to eat, and there is no need to feed the shrimp seedlings. After a month, the right amount of feed can be given.

3. Daily management: after the shrimp fry are put into the pond for 10 days, they begin to slowly add new water to the pond, generally adding 10-15cm fresh water every 7 days. When the temperature is high in summer, the water should be changed every day. In the process of culture, regularly sprinkle a certain proportion of quicklime into the pond for disinfection to improve the water quality and the bottom quality of the pond, so as to promote the shelling and growth of river shrimp.

Market Prospect of River Shrimp Culture

River shrimp is a kind of high quality shrimp unique to China and Japan, which lives in fresh water. They are mainly distributed in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and ponds in China. At present, the area and yield of river shrimp cultured in China are second only to river crabs.

River shrimp has always been one of the excellent products of freshwater shrimp in China. Its shell is very thick, the meat is fresh and tender, it has rich nutrition, and it is deeply loved by the public. River shrimp is not only loved by many domestic consumers, but also an important export product of our country. Domestic and foreign markets are for supply or demand, so the market prospect of river shrimp culture is still very good.
