Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Mantis shrimp culture requires sufficient water source and good water quality, the cement pond is the best, the size of the seedling pond should be controlled at about 9 × 4 × 1.2m, the water temperature should be controlled between 20-27 ℃, the visibility of the water is about 30cm, and the water above 4 should be changed every day, and the oxygen content in the water should be protected.

Mantis shrimp culture requires adequate water source and good water quality, the cement pond is the best, the size of the breeding pond should be controlled at about 9 × 4 × 1.2 m, the water temperature should be controlled between 20-27 ℃, and the visibility of the water should be about 30cm, the oxygen content in the water should be kept above 5ml/l every day, and the pond should be disinfected and sterilized before releasing shrimp fry, fertilize and bait, and feed them fresh shellfish, small fish and shrimp every day. Do well in daily management.

Mantis shrimp culture conditions

1. Growth environment requirements

Breeding mantis shrimp should choose a place with sufficient water source and good water quality, the best breeding pond is a cement pond, the size is controlled at 9 × 4 × 1.2m, the oxygen content in the water should be kept above 5ml/l, the visibility of the water should be controlled at 30cm, and the water above 1x4 should be replaced every day to ensure that the water quality is clear, the water temperature is controlled at 20-27 ℃, and the water temperature is too high or too low will affect the growth and development of mantis shrimp.

2. Preparatory work before release

The culture pond was disinfected and sterilized with 45kg/ mu of quicklime before putting in the shrimp seedlings. 10 days before putting into the pond, 5-10cm water was injected into the pond and then organic fertilizer was sprinkled into the pond to cultivate sufficient natural bait for shrimp seedlings to eat. Pull the protective net around the pond to prevent mantis shrimp from escaping.

3. Feed selection

Mantis shrimp can be fed with fresh shellfish, small fish, shrimp, etc., cut the bait into small pieces before putting it, to ensure that it is fed evenly, and throw a little more when feeding, so as to prevent mantis shrimp from competing for food and killing each other.

4. Bait feeding

Mantis shrimp is generally inactive during the day, and they are mostly active at night, so they should be fed more food in the evening, and the amount of bait each time should be controlled at 5-20% of the total weight of the shrimp.

When feeding, it should be adjusted according to mantis shrimp's egg-holding situation, water temperature, weather changes and different kinds of bait. In the early stage of cultivation, more bait can be fed to ensure the better growth and development of shrimp seedlings. When parent shrimp hold eggs, they will drill into the cave and basically do not eat, so they can feed less.

5. Daily management

Inspect mantis shrimp's condition every day, check the outlet of the pond, monitor the water quality, and do a good job in disease prevention.

Mantis shrimp culture method

1. Seed selection

Parent shrimp can choose female shrimp that have been mated in artificial culture or natural sea area, and those with body length 11cm and body weight more than 30g are suitable, and those with short time out of water, good gonad development, strong body, complete appendages, no scars, bright body color and sensitive to external stimuli are selected.

2. Transportation

After purchasing shrimp species, they should be transported to the fry site as soon as possible and put into the pond for temporary cultivation. You can choose live water ship transport, nylon bag oxygenated transport, dry moisturizing transport and canvas bucket water transport and other modes of transport.

3. Raising seedlings

After soaking the parent shrimp in a certain concentration of formaldehyde solution for 3 minutes, put the shrimp with complete appendages and agile movement into a sterilized cement pond, inject filtered fresh seawater into the pond, inflate and restore the vitality of the shrimp. Temporarily raise for about 30 days to fatten its gonads.

4. Management and maintenance

Regularly monitor and regulate the water quality to ensure the normal development of shrimp fry; feed them some ground snail or clam meat, and properly add plant feed such as corn, soybean meal and wheat to do a good job in disease prevention and control.
