Let's take a look at the introduction of Jimai 23. Jimai 23 was carried out with Jimai 22 as receptor and recurrent parent and Yumai 34 as high quality gene donor.

Jimai 23 is a new wheat variety with high yield and high quality selected by the crop Institute of Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Let's take a look at the introduction of Jimai 23.

Jimai 23 is a high-yield and medium-strong gluten wheat variety bred by crossing and backcrossing with Jimai 22 as receptor and recurrent parent and Yumai 34 as high quality gene donor, and using molecular marker-assisted technique to track target genes such as Dx5 and By8 in hybrid offspring. Compared with Jimai 22, Jimai 23 not only significantly improved its quality, shortened its growth period by 1-2 days, but also had higher yield. The unified sampling of regional trials for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015 was tested by the Grain quality Supervision, Inspection and testing Center (Taian) of the Ministry of Agriculture: the average grain protein content was 14.4%, wet gluten was about 34.7%, stability time was 6.7 min, and flour whiteness was 72.7. In the regional trial of high fertilizer group in Shandong Province from 2013 to 2015, the average yield per mu was 608.7 kg, which was 4.8% higher than that of Jimai 22, and from 2015 to 2016, the average yield per mu was 617.7 kg, 3.4% higher than that of Jimai 22. In 2016, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology organized experts to check and accept the high-yield field of Jimai 23 in Fujia Village, Zhangxing Town, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. the actual yield area was 3.1mu, with an average yield of 795.83 kg per mu.

Compared with conventional seed selection methods, molecular marker-assisted selection has the advantages of clear selection goal and high selection efficiency. this technique has been more and more widely used in the genetic improvement of wheat quality and disease resistance. In the breeding process of Jimai 23, the target quality traits were significantly improved by using molecular marker detection technique, and the non-target traits such as high yield and wide adaptability of Jimai 22 were maintained through limited backcrossing, and the accurate breeding was better realized.
