Hanmei is listed as four gentlemen together with orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum, and it is also called the three friends of the year together with pine and bamboo. Known as "Chunlan, summer lotus, autumn chrysanthemum, winter plum," said. So, when does Hanmei open?

First, when does the cold plum open?

Cold plum generally blossoms in late December to early January of the following year. With its cold-resistant characteristics, it has become the representative of winter flowers.

Second, what are the breeding methods of plum blossoms?

1. Grafting

Propagation and grafting is a common method for the propagation of plum blossoms in China. The grafted seedlings grow and develop fast, blossom early, and can maintain the excellent characteristics of the original species. The seedlings of peach, mountain peach, apricot, mountain apricot and plum can be selected for grafting rootstocks, among which the seeds of peach and mountain peach are the most easily obtained, the grafting is easy to survive, the growth is fast, and the flowers are various, so they are widely used in production, but diseases and insect pests are easy to occur after that, which shortens the life span, which is not as good as apricot, apricot and plum as rootstocks, so it is recommended to cultivate 1-2-year-old seedlings with the seeds of the three, and then used as rootstocks for grafting. If there is drought after grafting, ditches should be opened for drainage in rainy seasons, and buds should be prevented from withering or broken due to wind in windy weather, and tillering buds and cutting rootstocks should be cut off at any time.

two。 Cuttage

The survival rate of cutting propagation is very low. In order to get a higher survival rate, varieties that are easy to take root must be selected. Cuttings are selected from young mother trees, which are 10-15 cm long and are cut after flowering in early spring or defoliation in autumn. The matrix is sandy loam. The depth of cuttage is 1 beat 3-1 stroke 2 of cuttings, and the row spacing is 10 cm × 20 cm. After insertion, the cuttings are watered once, and then there is no need to water too much. Too wet bed soil is easy to cause cuttings to rot, and proper spray humidification is beneficial to cuttings rooting and survival. Spring cutters have to build a shade shed during the summer, and the general survival rate is 30% MUE 80%. Cuttage propagation is commonly used for easy rooting varieties such as palace powder, green calyx, bone red and so on.

3. Pressing strip

The strip pressing method can be used when the reproduction of plum is not large. Select 1-3 years growing branches from February to March in early spring, dig a trench next to the mother tree, cut or peel the branch below the bend of the branch (0.5-1 cm wide, deep to the xylem), press it into the ditch, then cover the soil, and gradually cut off the mother tree after rooting. Large seedlings can also be propagated by high pressure method. In the rainy season, appropriate branches are selected from the mother tree to be cut or peeled around, and then mixed soil is wrapped in plastic bags. Both ends are tied tightly to maintain humidity. After a month, it is checked whether it is rooting or not. After rooting, it can be cut off and transplanted under the incision for culture.

4. Sowing seeds

It is better to sow in autumn. If it is necessary to sow in spring, sand should be used to accumulate seeds in autumn, and strips should be taken out in early spring. When the fruit changes color from June to July, it is harvested and spread indoors, so that it is fully ripe, and the seeds are washed out to dry. The sowing seedlings of plum blossom are used to propagate rootstocks or to select new varieties because of their slow growth rate, late flowering stage and great variation in the seed character of their offspring.

Cold plum is a fresh and beautiful flower, interested friends can plant one or two plants in their own courtyard, in the cold winter is a beautiful scenery.
