One foot, also known as Chonglou, is a blindly traditional Chinese medicine. It is often used for sores and carbuncle, sore throat, snake and insect bites, falls, convulsions, and so on. So, what is the planting technology of one-legged lotus?

1. Planting time

Nelumbo nucifera is generally planted in late April, making a 1.3-meter-wide border on the finished land, and then making a horizontal ditch on the border, with a distance of 22 cm to 26 cm, a depth of 7 cm to 10 cm, and a tuber every 7 cm to 10 cm, with the bud mouth upward.

2. Apply sufficient base fertilizer

When planting single-horn lotus, 2000-3000 kg of barnyard manure or compost was applied per mu. After applying manure, the cover soil was flush with the border surface, with a depth of 4-5 cm, slightly suppressed, and 20-25 kg of small tubers per mu.

3. Field management

Shading requirements: heavy buildings like shade, if the shade coverage of the land is not enough, it is necessary to use wire and cement piles to build a scaffolding, which can be covered with plastic sheeting above the scaffolding to create a shady and humid environment for the growth of heavy buildings.

The growing period of single horn lotus is very short, and its seedling emergence is relatively late. Generally, it emerges around June. It is necessary to carry out intertillage, weeding and fertilization in the middle of the month, and ploughing, weeding and topdressing again in the first ten days of August.

4. Harvest and retain species

Nelumbo nucifera was collected in late September, the size was separated, the large ones were removed from the soil and fibrous roots, dried in the sun for medicinal use, and the small bulbs were reserved for planting. The corm was stored in a kiln and stored in layers with dry fine sediment for overwintering. The pit temperature should be kept at 2-5 ℃.

Single horn lotus is born in wasteland, hillside and ditch. It can tolerate cold, shade, drought, cool and humid environment. It is not strict with previous crops, and grain fields and vegetable fields grow well. High yield can be obtained by cultivation under forest or by simultaneous cultivation of grape field and fruit tree land.
