Camellia is a kind of ornamental flowers with many varieties, and it is the general name of camellia of many kinds of plants and horticultural varieties of Camellia. What are the cultivation methods and watering of camellias?

I. growth habits of Camellia

The petal of camellia is bowl-shaped and divided into single or double, its flowering period is longer, generally blooming from October to May of the following year, and the flowering period is from January to March.

Camellia is native to eastern China and is widely grown in the Yangtze River Basin, Pearl River Basin and Yunnan, as well as in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and India.

Camellia fear the wind and enjoy the sun, high terrain, good ventilation, warm and moist, good drainage, loose and fertile sandy loam, loess or humus. PH5.5-6.5is the best. The suitable temperature is between 20-32 ℃, and the growth stops when the temperature is above 29 ℃, which requires a certain temperature difference. The environmental humidity is more than 70%, and most varieties can withstand the low temperature of-8 ℃ (natural overwintering, Yuncha is slightly less resistant to cold). In the south of Huaihe River, it can generally survive the winter and like acid soil, and requires good air permeability.

Second, the culture method and watering of camellia

1. Watering

It is appropriate to use neutral and slightly acidic water. If it is alkaline water, it should be naturally placed for two days, then acidified with appropriate amount of ferrous sulfate and then poured.

In addition, the amount of water should not be too large, otherwise it is easy to rot the roots and the basin soil can not be dry, otherwise it is easy to make the roots shrink because of water loss, so as to keep the basin soil and the surrounding environment moist.

2. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature is 18-25 ℃. We should pay attention to sunscreen in summer and keep warm in winter.

3. Lighting

Camellia is a semi-shady flower that needs shade when it is too hot in summer. It can be shaded by building a shade shed in summer, and it is generally necessary to maintain a temperature of more than 8 ℃ in winter, which can be moved to indoor breeding.

4. Fertilization

Appropriate amount of fertilizer can be applied according to the growth of flowers. Camellia likes to be fat. Generally apply sufficient base fertilizer at the bottom of the basin when going up or changing the basin. Because of the rapid development of flower buds in autumn and winter, we should irrigate rotten light liquid fertilizer once a week, and apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once or twice. Too much nitrogen fertilizer is easy to scorch the flower buds and can be applied less or not after flowering.
