Castor, which is native to Egypt, Ethiopia and India, likes high temperature, is not resistant to frost and has strong acid-alkali adaptability, so it is widely cultivated in China. Today, I would like to introduce the technology of castor planting.

I. selection of land and land preparation

Castor has strong adaptability and is suitable for planting in all kinds of soil. it can also be planted sporadically by the roadside of the ditch, in front and behind the house, or on the barren hills and slopes. Before planting, turn the soil over to ripen the soil. When planting castor in the wasteland, the slope should be changed into a banded terrace around the mountain, so as to protect soil and water loss and facilitate management and harvest.

2. Selection of species

The early mature seeds in the middle of the main ear or primary branch of castor can be selected by salt selection, grain selection, screening and wind selection, and then the selected seeds are spread out into a thin layer on a sunny day and dried for 2-3 days. Wait for sowing.

3. Seed treatment

Castor seeds are disinfected with lime paste. Two days before sowing, soak the seeds in 45 degrees warm water for 4 hours, or soak them in 25 degrees warm water for 24 hours, during which hot water is needed to keep the water temperature and stir 5 times. After soaking the seeds, put the seeds in a 25-degree greenhouse to promote germination for one night, and turn them several times. When you see a broken seed coat, you can sow the seeds.

Fourth, sow seeds at the right time

When sowing castor seeds, there are 2-3 seeds in each hole, and the soil is covered after sowing. The sowing density needs to be determined reasonably according to the characteristics of varieties and local natural conditions. When sowing, if the humidity is high and it is not suitable for sowing, it is necessary to dry the soil before sowing and stabilize the soil in time after sowing.

After castor spread to Brazil, Thailand, Argentina, the United States and other countries. Widely distributed in tropical regions of the world or cultivated in tropical to warm zone countries. Annual herbs are cultivated as oil crops in China.
