Cunninghamia lanceolata is a beautiful garden tree with a spire-shaped crown, dense branches, bright green needles and yellowish green new leaves. So, how to grow European fir bonsai?

1. Basin soil

The branches and leaves of Cunninghamia lanceolata are luxuriant, so we should choose a larger bonsai basin. The basin soil is generally made of mountain mud, nutritious soil and garden soil. First of all, the Australian fir is placed on the left side of the bonsai basin in 1 stroke 3 places, while the right 2 stroke 3 places can be matched with rockery, strange stone, water, etc., after the Australian fir is put into the basin, the plant should be upright, then cover the soil, and press the soil with your fingers. The mud surface of the basin soil should be lower than the basin mouth 2~3cm.

2. Temperature

It has strong tolerance and can endure low temperature below-30 ℃. It can grow normally in other seasons except when the summer temperature exceeds 32 ℃.

3. Moisture

In the spring to autumn, should be more watering, but avoid stagnant water in the basin. When drying at high temperature, spray water on the basin plant and the ground near it to cool and humidify. Water it in time. Don't wait until the soil is dry before watering. Since the end of autumn, watering is gradually reduced to enhance its cold resistance.

4. Fertilization

Fertilizer should be applied every 2 weeks in the growing season, and the compound fertilizer containing nitrogen and potassium is suitable. If the supply of fertilizer is insufficient, the branches and leaves are easy to turn yellow.

5. Pest control

Australian fir has few diseases and insect pests, and occasionally shell insects and locusts are harmful. The former can be controlled by washing with soapy water or spraying 40% omethoate, while the latter is treated by turning over basin soil or irrigating with 100 times ferrous sulfate.

6. Change the basin

Australian fir bonsai is generally changed every 2-3 years, when the spring temperature is about 10 ℃. The basin soil chooses rich, loose and well-drained sandy soil.

European fir has strong shade tolerance, lax climate requirements, strong vitality and simple maintenance, so it is an ideal bonsai plant.
