Scrambling to grow Winter Potato in Yilong Town, Shiping, Yunnan (Picture)

On the eve of the Winter Solstice, the village committees of Yilong Town in Yilong Lake, Shiping County, such as Doudi Bay, Gaojiawan, Xiaoshui and so on, rushed to occupy the agricultural season and plant winter potatoes.

In recent days, the weather in Yilong Lake is sunny, and it is a favorable time to sow winter potatoes. Located on the banks of Yilong Lake, Dudi Bay, Gaojiawan, Dashui and other village committee farmers made every effort to seize the favorable opportunity to rush to plant overwintering potatoes. When the author came to Yilong Lake, thousands of acres of flat and neat farmland showed a busy scene, and the field roads were covered with tricycles carrying potato seeds, chemical fertilizers and pesticides, agricultural pickup trucks and various types of walking tractors. In the farmland, some farmers are busy rushing to harvest late autumn knife beans, winter cabbages, and green vegetables to make room for planting potatoes; some are ploughing cattle rakes, managing soil moisture, beating ponds, and selecting and sowing seeds in their respective responsible fields; and some are covering the fields planted with potatoes with waterlogging and drought-resistant films.
