What is litchi?

Litchi is a subtropical evergreen fruit tree of the disease-free family. The scientific name is LitchichinensisSonn.,. Aliases are Dali, Danli, Lizhi, etc. Trees can be as high as 8 to 20 meters. The stem is much branched, gray; branchlets cylindrical, leaves alternate, compound leaves, petioles 10-25 cm long; leaflets slender, upper surface green and glossy, tip prominent. Small green-white or yellowish flowers in spring, panicles. The fruit is heart-shaped or round, the pericarp has many scaly processes, the color is bright red, purple-red, cyan-green or cyan-white, the seed moment is round, brown to black-red, shiny. When the flesh is fresh, it is translucent and greasy, tender and juicy, sweet and fragrant. Litchi is a precious fruit unique to the middle fruit. The word "litchi" comes from the Western Han Dynasty, while the cultivation era began in the Qin and Han dynasties and flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties. It has a history of two or three thousand years. The preservation of litchi is relatively difficult. The unpreserved litchi has the characteristics of "color change in one day, fragrance change in two days, flavor change in three days, and color and aroma go away in four days". Fresh litchi begins to appear on the market in May every year, and the peak period is in June and July. The main types of fresh litchi are black leaf litchi, others are glutinous rice litchi, jade lotus bud and other varieties.

Matters needing attention in planting Litchi

1. During the peak period of June and July, buy fresh litchi from the market, invite the family to eat together, leave the leftover litchi seeds and collect enough seeds. Choose "black leaf" litchi, do not buy expensive "jade purse" litchi, because the seeds of jade purse are stunted.

2. Remove the pulp and white soft tissue (bud point) from the top of litchi seeds and wash them clean.

3. Soak the litchi seeds in water and submerge the seeds with water. Change the water every day. After soaking for 3 to 6 days, the shell will crack slightly, and the bud point (the white part after the split) can be seen, and then it can be planted. After the shell is cracked, soaking for another 2-3 days can speed up the emergence of new buds.

4. Suitable pots without pots.

Put in sterile culture soil about 9% full, and spray some water on the surface of the soil to make it moist.

Poke holes with pencils or ballpoint pens, the crack bud points are buried upward into the hole, one after another, but without spacing, the concentric circles are slowly arranged neatly from the outside to the inside.

Select seeds with similar cracking degree to be planted in the same pot, so that the situation of germination will be more consistent. Then cover the surface gap with rice stone or other small gravel, sprinkle water back and forth three times, remember to spray water once a day.

5, then wait for sprouting, a week later, all the new buds can emerge, tender red through a touch of green, a small plant, very lovely.

6. After the 10th day, new leaves grow, and the color of the leaves is light brown.

7. After the 13th day, the leaves became thick, and the color of the leaves slowly changed to pink, light coffee and light yellow.

8. After the 15th day, the leaves became thicker, the colors of the leaves were light coffee, light yellow and light green, and the leaves of different colors could be seen in the same pot at the same time.

9. After the 19th day, the color of the leaves will change from light to dark green. It is very interesting to appreciate the changing process of the leaves.

Construction of litchi plantation

1. Choose the garden. For high-yield cultivation of litchi, hills or slopes with open terrain, slope below 30 degrees, loose and fertile soil and water source should be selected as ideal for the development of plantations.

2. do a good job in planning. For the selected garden, it is necessary to conscientiously do a good job in the planning of variety selection, zoning, roads, drainage and irrigation systems, fertilizer bases, shelterbelts and auxiliary buildings, so as to facilitate the standardized management of orchards.

3. Determine the planting density reasonably. In general, the reasonable density is that the row spacing is 3.5 × 3.5 meters or 3.5 × 4 meters and planting 50-60 plants per mu.

4. Dig a big hole and put down enough base fertilizer. For those who reclaim and build orchards on hilly land, they shall be opened into equal height terrace belts or equal height trenches according to the row spacing specifications of planting. However, the planting hole is dug according to the selected plant distance, and the specification of the hole is 1 meter long, wide and deep, and 40 kilograms of garbage manure, green manure, barnyard manure and pig and cow manure under each hole are used as base manure.

5. Careful planting. When planting, take the seedling in one hand, gently return to the fine soil in the other hand, return to the soil to cover it to about 2 cm above the root, drench the root water, then continue to return to the mud, and when the return soil is about 10 cm above the ground, form a tree plate, then cover with thatch or stem Osmunda grass to moisturize, stand up next to the seedling, prevent wind and shake pine seedlings to cause dead seedlings, drench water every 3 days after setting, and pay attention to drainage and waterproofing on rainy days. The survival rate was checked and replanted in time after 30 days.

Efficacy and function of Litchi

1. Replenish energy, intelligence and brain. Litchi pulp is rich in glucose and sucrose, with a total sugar content of more than 70%, ranking first among many kinds of fruits, with the role of replenishing energy and increasing nutrition. Studies have shown that litchi has a nourishing effect on brain tissue and can significantly improve insomnia, forgetfulness, mental fatigue and other symptoms.

2. To enhance the immune function. Litchi meat is rich in vitamin c and protein, which helps to enhance the immune function of the body and improve disease resistance. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a precious tonic.

3. Lower blood sugar. Litchi contains an amino acid, which has the effect of lowering blood sugar, which is very suitable for patients with diabetes.

4. detumescence and detoxification, stop bleeding and relieve pain. In addition to its well-known nourishing effect, litchi can also be used for surgical diseases, such as tumor, scrofula, ulcers, traumatic bleeding and other diseases.

5. Stop hiccup and diarrhea. Litchi is sweet and warm to the spleen and can reduce adverse events. It is a good dietotherapy for people with intractable hiccup and five changes.

With the continuous development of planting industry in our country, it is relatively easy to eat fresh litchi, but the market demand of litchi is increasing every year, and the market price of litchi is not too low every year, so its development prospect is still very good.
