In recent years, grape wing moth occurred in many vineyards and courtyard grapes in Xuzhou, which mainly damaged grape branches and vines, resulting in yield reduction and even death of the whole plant.

The grape winged moth harms the grape twigs and 1-2-year-old branches with its larvae, and the first instar larvae eat into the tender shoots and the pith, thus withering the young shoots. After the larvae grow up, they turn to the thicker branches to do harm, the injured part is swollen, there are brown granular insect dung outside the wormhole, the nearby leaves turn yellow, the fruit falls off, and the stem is easy to break.

The grape winged moth in Xuzhou area generally has one generation every year, overwintering with mature larvae in grape branches, pupating in the first ten days of May and feathering from mid-late May to mid-late June, at the same time as the flowering period. Adults have a strong ability to fly and are active during the day. Eggs are laid on axillary buds, petioles and veins of tender shoots. Generally, each female lays 20-27 eggs. The larvae were harmful to food after hatching and overwintered as mature larvae from September to October.

The control of grape wing moth should be combined with artificial killing and drug control. (1) manual hunting. From mid-May to July, we often check the twigs and shoots, and when we find that the branches have insect droppings, cut off the branches in time and bury them deeply. If the branches and vines are larger, steel wire can be inserted into the fecal hole to stab the larvae. In addition, it can be pruned in autumn and winter to cut off the branches with larvae in the swollen place and burn them centrally. (2) Drug prevention and treatment. From mid-May to late June, insecticides such as diflubenzuron were sprayed. For the injured rough vine, cotton balls soaked in dichlorvos diluent can be inserted into the wormhole, or a syringe can be eaten into the right amount of medicine, and then the wormhole can be sealed with slime.
