Grafting technique of planting Walnut
Dingzhou Desheng Company has carried out a large number of application experiments on walnut tree height grafting and bud grafting since 1997, and a complete grafting technology system has been formed in many years of production practice. the survival rate of height grafting and seedling bud grafting are more than 90%.
Scion collection: should choose strong growth, full development, pith is small, no diseases and insect pests, the thickness of 1.0 to 1.5 cm of the development of branches as scions. The time of scion collection can be carried out from the defoliation of walnut to before germination.
Scion storage: the high grafting time is about the middle and late April, and the preservation period of the scion is longer. In order to prevent the buds on the scion from mildew or germination, the optimum temperature for storing the scion is 0: 5 ℃.
Wax-sealed scion: the paraffin temperature should be controlled at 105-115 ℃, so that the wax skin of the wax-sealed scion is not easy to fall off during the grafting process.
Rootstock selection: the age of the rootstock tree with high grafting should be less than 20 years, and the tree body should be strong, the grafting position should be smooth, and the joint thickness should be 3-8 cm.
Grafting period: the best period of high grafting is from bud germination of rootstock to leaf expansion.
Rootstock treatment: 4-5 days before high grafting, the branches and the base of the trunk were sawed out according to the plan, so as to reduce the effect of bleeding on the survival rate.
Grafting method: insert skin and tongue, and the interface is tightly wrapped with plastic tape.
Then water control: irrigation is prohibited within two weeks after high connection, and the problem of stagnant water in the interface is solved in time.
Removing sprouting after grafting: the sprouting on the rootstock should be wiped out in time after grafting to prevent nutrient consumption and facilitate interface healing.
Grafting period: the best time for bud grafting of walnut is from May 20 to June 20.
Scion collection: a robust branch is selected as the scion. Immediately after the scion is cut, the leaves are cut off, leaving only the petiole 1.5-2.0 cm, and covered with wet sacks to prevent it from losing water.
Scion storage: it is required to be used now. For short-term preservation, the scion should be tied up and placed vertically in a container with clear water, the immersion depth is about 10 cm, the upper part is covered with wet gunny bags, put in a cool place, change the water 2 or 3 times a day, and can be preserved for 2 or 3 days.
Cut the bud slice: cut the upper part of the bud and the base of the petiole 0.5 cm down to the xylem (only the phloem), then cut one knife longitudinally on both sides of the petiole base, up to two transverse incisions, remove the square bud piece and set aside.
Rootstock cutting: at the smooth place where the rootstock is 15 cm from the ground, the cutting length is the same as the bud length, the width is about 1.2 to 1.5 cm, and then cut longitudinally on the outside. The above knife depth requires that only the phloem can be cut off and not the xylem. Then remove the rootstock bark from the side cut and tear off the 0.6-0.8 cm wide rootstock.
Put in the bud slice: insert the cut bud slice into the square rootstock opening.
Bind and sprout: bind from the bottom up and bandage tightly.
Cutting anvil: leave 2 compound leaf cutting anvil or folding anvil on the grafting bud. About 10 days after that, when the petiole of the grafted bud can fall off, or when a small part of the grafted bud begins to germinate, cut the anvil at 1.5 cm to 2.0 cm above the grafted bud. When the bud grows to 10 cm, remove the binding plastic strip.
