Dark Gill beetle is the dominant population of peanut in Xinyi area. Its larvae (grubs) not only seriously harm peanut pods, but also damage crop roots in soybean, corn, sweet potato, traditional Chinese medicine, flowers and seedlings. In production, according to the occurrence law of dark Gill beetles, corresponding measures should be taken to control the adults and larvae.

First, insert poisonous branches to trap and kill adults. Dark Gill beetles overwintered as larvae at the bottom of peanut ploughs, pupated in early May and feathered into adults (beetles) in late May. After Eclosion, the adult lurks in the soil for about 13 days. At this time, if the soil moisture is suitable, it can be unearthed. The annual peak of unearthing is in mid-June, that is, the night after the first heavy rain after the wheat harvest, which is the best time to trap and kill adults by inserting poisonous branches. That night, except for the rice field, poison branches were planted every 10 meters square, once every other night, three times in a row. Method of making poisonous branches: take the elm branches and poplar branches that the black Gill beetles like to eat at 5 p.m., the branches are 1.5 meters long, soak the leaves in 40% omethoate EC 200-300 times or 50% acephate EC 200-300 times, and insert them into the field before 7 o'clock.

Second, chemical control of larvae. ⑴ peanut sowing time was controlled by poisonous soil method. 1000-1200 ml per mu of phoxim EC or 48% chlorpyrifos EC, mixed with dry fine soil 10 kg was applied in the sowing ditch, covered with soil and buried after sowing. ⑵ peanut flower, young fruit stage, before the grub 2 years old (2 cm long), with 40% phoxim EC 100x solution or 48% chlorpyrifos EC 300x solution, take advantage of the rain to spray the peanut stalk. On sunny days, the roots can be filled with 40% phoxim EC 500 times or 48% chlorpyrifos EC 200 times, 150-200 ml per barrel.
