Today, I will discuss with my farmer friends how to treat the seeds before sowing peanuts, so as to lay the foundation for neat emergence, complete seedlings and strong seedlings. One is to select seeds, select superior seeds, and carry out seed selection.

Agricultural proverb cloud "grain rain before and after, point melon seed beans", busy spring ploughing work is about to start. Today, I will discuss with my farmer friends how to treat the seeds before sowing peanuts, so as to lay the foundation for neat emergence, complete seedlings and strong seedlings.

One is to select seeds, select superior seeds, and classify seeds. A lot of farmer friend is in choosing seed understanding to have very big deviation, think grain big, plump seed is good kind, actually not so. Continuous planting of each variety in production will lead to different degrees of variety degradation. Therefore, for a good variety, when harvesting in autumn, select some excellent individual plants that can represent the typical characteristics of the variety in the field, and carry out picking, drying and storage for preparation for sowing. Select before sowing. Thirdly, classify according to the size of the seeds, sow the large seeds together, sow the middle seeds together, and for the small seeds, shriveled seeds, budding seeds, Mildewed seeds should be eliminated decisively. The seeds sown in this way will germinate neatly, and there will be no phenomenon of big seedlings pressing young seedlings or big seedlings competing for fertilizer and water.

The second is to dry seeds before sowing. For the seeds removed from peanut shells before drying, be sure not to hurt the peel, choose a sunny morning, spread a layer of newspaper on the soil (not on the cement surface), spread the peanut seeds evenly on it, and stir once every two hours. The weather is good, the temperature is high, it can be dried for one day, and the next day can be sown. With this method of seed treatment, the sun can be used to kill the pathogenic bacteria carried on the seed epidermis, and also to reduce the water content of peanut seeds and improve the germination rate. According to investigations, this can make peanuts emerge 1 to 2 days ahead of schedule.

Third, seed dressing. In recent years, peanut diseases such as bacterial wilt, root rot and stem rot have been rampant in continuous cropping fields in main peanut producing areas. Many farmers do not know how to deal with them in advance, but wait until the diseases occur before starting to apply pesticides for prevention and control. In fact, it is too late for prevention and control at this time, and the control effect is not ideal, and the production investment is increased. Seed dressing with pesticide is a method with low investment and ideal control effect. Seed dressing with 50% carbendazim WP (0.5% of seed weight) or 5kg seed mixed with 10ml of Shileshi showed remarkable effect in controlling peanut root rot, stem rot and other soil-borne diseases.

Fourth, delay the peeling time or not peeling properly. Many farmers have nothing to do in winter and prepare peanut seeds in advance. In fact, it is unscientific to do so. The peeled seeds are easily damaged, their physiological function metabolism is accelerated, their respiration is accelerated, their nutrient consumption is intensified, they are easy to be affected by moisture and mildew, and they are also vulnerable to mechanical damage. Therefore, the vitality of seeds has been damaged to varying degrees, which also reduces the germination rate and makes it difficult to ensure the quality of seedlings. In addition, sowing with shell is also a good way to improve seed germination rate.

In short, seeds are the source of all things, good seeds alone can not, but also have scientific management methods, the ultimate goal is to improve the germination rate, ensure that seedlings are neat, complete and strong, and seize a bumper harvest of peanut production.
