March is the first critical period for spring control of wheat diseases and insect pests in our province, and the main diseases and insect pests are wheat sheath blight, wheat spiders, seedling aphids and so on. In particular, if the control of wheat sheath blight in the above areas is not effective, it will have a serious impact on wheat production.

When wheat sheath blight occurred in the seedling stage, the disease spread to the stem, and the first and second internodes of the stem blackened to rot, resulting in plant death. In the later stage of wheat growth, the plants with serious stem disease often could not produce spikes to form withered spikes, or the grains were rarely withered to form withered spikes, and the withered spikes were mostly caused by a single plant in the field, which was easy to be pulled out from the diseased spot at the base of the diseased stem. Wheat sheath blight in our province mainly occurs in the high-yield cultivated wheat areas with sufficient fertilizer and water, the northern part of Huaibei and the reoccurrence areas along the Huaihe River. The rate of perennial wheat sheath blight disease in these wheat areas can be as high as 20-40%. Naturally, the yield of diseased wheat is generally reduced by about 5-10%, and the diseased plant rate and yield loss will be higher in serious years. Wheat sheath blight has become an important disease affecting the stability of wheat yield in the whole province. In addition, wheat spiders and aphids at seedling stage will also be factors affecting wheat yield due to poor growth and severe drought in the early stage. In order to control wheat sheath blight in time, and at the same time to control wheat spider and wheat seedling aphid, the following technical suggestions are put forward:

Control object: focus on sheath blight, and control wheat spiders and seedling aphids in some wheat areas.

Control indicators: sheath blight disease rate 20%; wheat spider 200 / city ruler; seedling aphid 500 / 100.

Control agents: control sheath blight, use 12.5% well wax sprout water agent (Rhizoctonia) 150 ml per mu, or 12.5% uniconazole (WO Guoli) 50 grams, or 20% Jinggangmycin wettable powder 50 grams per mu; control wheat spiders, use 10.2% Avidalin EC 30 ml per mu, or 15% Dipyridyl (Basborne) EC 30 ml To control seedling aphid, 24% imidacloprid 20 grams or 10% imidacloprid wettable powder 20 grams per mu.

Sufficient uniform spray: mobile sprayer 15 kg per mu of water, manual sprayer 30-40 kg water, choose to apply when there is dew in the morning, appropriately increase water consumption, so that the liquid can flow to the base of the wheat plant. The wheat sheath blight serious disease area was sprayed again every 10 days after the first spray.
