Recently, many farmers have brought corn to our station to ask about the distortion of the heart leaves of some corn seedlings in their corn fields. In serious cases, they are in the shape of a large whip, and the male ear cannot be pulled out normally, and even if it can bear a female ear, the grain is not full. This phenomenon has also occurred in previous years. The causes and preventive measures are introduced as follows:

First, herbicide damage. Cause: the cornfields in question were all treated with post-seedling herbicides containing nicosulfuron. There are three reasons: 1. Spraying at high temperature, or re-spraying, also causes drug damage. two。 The age of corn is more than 5 leaves, or the liquid is sprayed into the heart, causing distortion, whitening of leaves, or rotten heart. 3. If the herbicide is applied too late, corn will produce the drug damage of onion-like leaves, mainly because some hybrid varieties are sensitive to herbicides, resulting in the ear can not be extracted normally.

Preventive measures: after the occurrence of drug damage, if the distortion of the heart leaf is not serious and does not affect the extraction of the panicle, the available nitrogen fertilizer can be applied and watered, and the normal growth can be restored after a week. If the twist is serious, it should be broken artificially, fertilized and watered, some foliar fertilizer can be sprayed and some zinc and boron fertilizer can be added.

Second, caused by pests. The main reason is that the corn thrips are harmful to the adults on the back of the heart leaves, resulting in a large number of intermittent white dots or silver-white striped patches on the leaves, accompanied by small stains, yellow stripes opposite to the silver-white stripes on the front of the leaves, broken heart leaves and deformed leaves on the upper part of the plant. After the corn seedlings were injured, the heart leaves could not stretch normally and twisted in the shape of "fine twist" or "oxtail".

Preventive measures: this kind of pest should be controlled in the early stage, and the control effect is not good after the corn heart leaves are curled. First of all, in the seedling stage, 20 grams of imidacloprid wettable powder or 20 grams of 5% imidacloprid wettable powder 20 grams of imidacloprid wettable powder 20 grams and 30 kilograms of water were sprayed with 30 kilograms of water. The site of the medicine is corn heart leaf. In the middle and later stage, the heart leaves of the injured seedlings should be broken manually, the twisted parts should be opened, and some foliar fertilizer should be added at the same time.

Third, physiological diseases. It is mainly caused by excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer, excessive vegetative growth and variety characteristics.

Preventive measures: after it is found, it should be peeled off manually to assist male extraction.
