BlackBerry can be propagated by cutting, striping, root tillering, tissue culture and other methods. At present, hardwood cuttings and root tillers are mainly used to raise seedlings, and tender wood cuttings can also be used where conditions permit.

First, hardwood cutting. In winter pruning (after defoliation in December), the sturdy and pest-free branches will be cut to grow 8-12 cm cuttings with 2-3 buds, sand storage, and cuttings before sprouting in early spring (about mid-February). Bury cuttings 3-5 cm into the soil, 40-50 strips per square meter. After planting, pour enough water and cover the straw, and then often keep the soil moist. When the management is good, the survival rate can reach 40-50%, when it is high, it is more than 60%, and it can be out of the nursery in the winter of that year. After the cuttage seedlings come out of the nursery, there are still many root segments left in the soil, which can be used to continue to propagate seedlings. The specific method is to apply a small amount of organic fertilizer in the nursery in winter, turn it shallowly once, press the fertilizer into the soil, prepare the land for bed in early spring, water it once during drought, and sprout a large number of root and tiller seedlings in April, leaving about 20 seedlings per square meter. Later management is the same as the general nursery.

Second, softwood cuttings. From the middle of July to the beginning of August, branch cuttings were carried out in the shade shed and under the condition of automatic spraying, and the soil of the cutting bed was mixed with peat and sand at 1:1, and it could take root 7-10 days after cutting, and the survival rate could be as high as 80-90%. Move to the open field after 1 month, strengthen the management, and get out of the nursery in the next spring.
