Last Updated: 2024/11/08, We often see: mango trees grow too vigorously, there will be low yield or non-fruiting phenomenon. This is because vegetative growth is dominant and reproductive growth is at a disadvantage. We often see: mango trees grow too vigorously, there will be low yield or not bearing fruit phenomenon. This is due to the predominance of vegetative growth and the inferiority of reproductive growth. In view of this situation, effective measures should be taken to solve the problem of mango trees not bearing fruit or less bearing fruit (i.e."empty"). According to the experience of fruit farmers in Maoming, the following three effective measures can be adopted:

1. Circumcision. In the growth process of mango trees do not bear fruit on the main branch or auxiliary main branch of the transverse cut one to a circle, deep to the phloem and xylem junction, should not damage the xylem. This leaves the production of nutrients, no longer down the transport, all accumulated in the upper end of the incision, so that there is sufficient starch, protein, fat, promote flower bud differentiation. it is one of the good measures to reduce the groundwater level by combining water and fertilizer production with deep digging of side ditches.

2. To root out. The purpose of root cutting is to reduce the absorption of water and nutrients by roots and promote reproductive growth. The concrete method is to combine deep ploughing and soil improvement in winter, dig a circular ditch about 60 cm deep and 30 cm wide along the vertical line of tree crown, cut off the thick roots of the lower layer of soil, dry for five or six days, then apply decomposed organic fertilizer and cover it with topsoil. At the same time, in combination with winter garden clearing, ploughing 20 cm deep to cut off the absorption roots of the topsoil, weaken the underground part of the water and nutrients transport to the ground, improve the tree sap concentration, is conducive to the accumulation of nutrients in the ground part, promote flower bud differentiation, and improve the fruit rate.

3. Get a grip on the trim. The reason why most mango trees do not bear fruit is that they grow too vigorously, they are easy to take out second and third shoots, late autumn shoots and winter shoots, and the branches of the crown are disordered, the internal ventilation is bad, and the fruit part moves outward. In view of this situation, pruning should be done well, thin branches, dead branches cut off, should also part of the strong shoot thinning part and drooping branches, overlapping branches, shade branches properly removed, this reasonable distribution of tree branches, so that sufficient sunlight, increase the accumulation of effective branches nutrients, favorable flower bud differentiation, improve the fruit setting rate has a good effect.
