1. Use tools: pruning shears, grafting knife (straight knife), plastic strip.

2. Scion collection: collect fully developed 1-year-old jujube head branches or current year-old lignified branches without diseases and insect pests, remove secondary branches (leaving 2 cm long) and leaves, and use them whenever you pick them. If it needs to be stored for a short time, it can be inserted into a container containing 10 cm of water and lifted into the underground 0.5-1 cm from the surface of the water or in the cellar.

3. Cutting the scion: hold the tail end of the ear cutter with the left hand, put the scion on the slope of the ear cutter, top one end on the stop head, and cut it tightly with the thumb. The scion should be wax-sealed in advance.

4. Treatment of rootstocks: ⑴ cutting first and then cutting: cut longitudinally at the edge of the xylem, its length is slightly shorter than the long cutting surface of the scion, and its width is the same as the cutting surface of the scion, and then at the end of the knife edge, the second knife is cut downward to the end of the first knife, and the rootstock is cut into a hook-shaped cutting surface. ⑵ cutting after cutting method: in order to facilitate operation, the rootstock can be cut at 20cm from the ground, remove the needle, hold the rootstock with one hand, push the knife downward with the other hand, its length is 1cm longer than the scion length cutting surface, the second knife should be cut horizontally at 0.5cm above the end point of the knife edge, and then cut the rootstock slightly shorter than the scion length cutting surface.

5. Grafting: insert the scion into the incision of the rootstock to align the cambium. Wrap it tightly with plastic tape from the bottom to the top. Pay attention to wrapping the exposed part of the scion.

The hook-shaped grafting method is suitable for raising seedlings in nursery, high grafting and grafting of sour jujube.
