Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Peach borer eats peach fruit with larvae, resulting in gum flow, fruit discoloration or fruit full of insect dung, unedible, which has a great impact on yield and quality. First, the law of occurrence. The insect occurs 2-3 generations a year in Shandong, mainly with mature larvae in damaged peach fruits and trees.

Peach borer larvae eat peach fruit, resulting in gum flow, fruit discoloration or fruit filled with insect droppings, inedible, on the yield and quality of a great impact.

1. Rules of occurrence. The insect has 2-3 generations every year in Shandong Province. It mainly overwinters as mature larvae in damaged peach dead fruit, bark crack, dam rock crack, chestnut seed bud, sunflower flower disk, castor seed, corn and sorghum stem, and a few overwinters as pupae. In Shandong Province, the first adult moth stage of overwintering generation is in the middle of May, and the peak stage is in the first and middle of June; most of the eggs of the first generation are laid on the early maturity peach fruit, and the most eggs are laid on the carcass; the first hatching stage of larvae mainly damages the early maturity peach fruit in the middle and last ten days of June, and eats into the fruit; the mature larvae cocoon and pupate in the damaged fruit stem depression and bark crack. The first generation adults began to emerge in early July, and the peak period was from late July to early August. The adults had strong oviposition selectivity, basically laying on the late-maturing varieties of peach and pomegranate. The first hatching larvae of the second generation were found in the middle and late July, and the peak period was in the first and middle August. The mature larvae were found in the late July. The pupation peak period is in the middle and late August. As the late-ripening peach began to harvest, adults later transferred to other crops to lay eggs and continue to damage.

The adults of the peach stem borer have strong tropism to black light and sweet and sour solution, and the adults appear at night and lie in the day.

The occurrence of peach borer is related to rainfall. Generally, more rain in April and May is beneficial to the occurrence. When the relative humidity is 80%, the pupation and emergence rate of overwintering larvae are high.

II. Prevention and control measures

(i) Agricultural control

1. Strengthen field management, concentrate compost on pruned branches and removed insects and fruits; tie grass to trunk before fruit picking in autumn, lure overwintering larvae, and burn them in early spring.

2. Remove the overwintering hosts around the orchard. At the same time, before the first ten days of May of the second year, straw and flower disk of corn, sorghum, sunflower and other crops should be treated to reduce the base number of overwintering insects.

(ii) Chemical control

Because the peach moth belongs to the boring pest, the hidden nature is strong during the damage period, and the appropriate control period should be grasped when controlling, that is, the early stage of larva hatching.

1. Control of adults: ① 50% dichlorvos 1000 times solution can be sprayed in the field during the occurrence period and peak spawning period of adults to prevent adult spawning, and good control effect can be received. (2) In the adult stage, black light or sweet and sour liquid can be used to trap adults. In addition, conditional orchards can be bagged to prevent insects.

2. Larvae control: ① In late May (the initial stage of the first generation larvae hatching), spraying 50% fenitrothion 1000-1500 times solution, or spraying 90% trichlorfon 1000-1500 times solution, or spraying 20% fenvalerate 2000-3000 times solution, spraying again after 7 days, good control effect can be obtained. (2) In the middle of July (the initial stage of hatching of the second generation larvae), the same chemicals can be used for treatment.

In addition, the control of peach borer in orchard and other host crops around orchard together, the effect is good.
