Last Updated: 2024/11/05, There are many reasons for not hanging fruit, specifically there are the following: 1, it may be that the climate is not suitable. 2. Improper cultivation and management will lead to excessive growth of trees and failure to bear fruit if flower buds are not formed. 3. Serious diseases and insect pests or poor fertilizer and water conditions, trees do not store nutrients.

There are many reasons for not hanging fruit, including the following:

1. It is possible that the climate is not suitable.

2. Improper cultivation and management will lead to excessive growth of trees and failure to bear fruit if flower buds are not formed.

3. Serious diseases and insect pests or poor fertilizer and water conditions and insufficient storage nutrients of trees lead to poor development of flower buds, serious drop of flowers and fruits at flowering stage, or poor pollination and fertilization due to continuous overcast and rainy weather or sudden low temperature during flowering.

The control measures are as follows:

1. It depends on whether the local area is suitable for growing cherries. Cherry can be divided into Chinese cherry and European sweet cherry. Chinese cherry has wide adaptability, while European sweet cherry has relatively narrow adaptability and strict climatic conditions, which requires sufficient light, less precipitation, large temperature difference between day and night and sufficient low temperature in winter. otherwise, flower formation is difficult or flower bud differentiation is poor.

2. Reasonable summer pruning. Young cherry trees are often not easy to blossom, and reasonable summer pruning must be taken, such as pinching the upper back branches or leaving 30 cm pruning from late May to early June, pulling branches from July to August, the backbone branches are pulled to about 80 degrees, auxiliary branches and fruiting branches are pulled to more than 90 degrees, vegetative growth is controlled, flower bud differentiation and flower cluster short fruit branch formation are promoted, and early fruiting is achieved.

3. Take measures to promote flowers. The unfruitful cherry trees can be picked out repeatedly, and foliar spraying plant growth inhibitors such as paclobutrazol from June to August can effectively control the growth potential and promote the transfer of plants from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, so as to promote flower bud differentiation and achieve fruit. In addition, keeping the soil dry properly from July to August is also beneficial to flower bud formation.

4. Protect flowers and fruits during flowering. Spraying 0.3% 0.5% borax solution at full flowering stage, or 0.3% urea + 0.3% borax + 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1-2 times, or artificial pollination once at early flowering stage and once at full flowering stage, or irrigation before flowering in areas prone to low temperature in early spring can delay flowering by 3-5 days and stagger low temperature weather; or spraying water at flowering stage can also reduce the effect of low temperature on flowering and fruit setting.

5. Strengthen the control of diseases and insect pests and the management of fertilizer and water.
