Last Updated: 2024/11/05, For the control of shell insects in pear trees, comprehensive measures should be taken to strengthen agricultural control, timely application of high-efficient corresponding pesticides and protection and utilization of natural enemies: first, rational fertilizer and water management, strengthening tree potential, reducing damage, and combining pruning in winter and spring to cut off dense branches and diseases.

Comprehensive measures should be taken to control scale insects in pear trees, such as strengthening agricultural control, timely application of high effective corresponding pesticides and protection and utilization of natural enemies:

One is to reasonably manage fertilizer and water, enhance tree vigor, reduce damage, combine pruning in winter and spring, cut off dense branches, branches with serious diseases and insect pests, so as to make the crown ventilated and transparent.

The second is to spray timely control. The occurrence and damage of the pest can be basically controlled by grasping the appropriate control period for 3 times in a year. The first time was from late April to early May, when the first generation of young scale was in full bloom, so as to reduce the insect source; the second time was from September to October, when the autumn shoots of litchi were neatly sprouted, so as to protect the autumn shoots from being strong and mature; the third time was to clear the garden in winter. The special counterpart is 40% quick-kill emulsifiable concentrate, which has strong internal penetration and special effect on scale insects. Since the 1980s, this drug has been used as the first choice for controlling litchi scale insects in our city. It can be mixed with 1000--1200 times of water in the peak period of young age; if the appropriate period of control is missed, it can be mixed with 700--800 times of water, which has a good control effect on old young scale and female adult scale; in winter, it can be mixed with 95% engine oil emulsion, and the effect is better. Generally, 40% quick kill emulsifiable concentrate 1500 times of 95% engine oil emulsion 300 times.

Third, do a good job in protecting and utilizing natural enemies. There are many natural enemies of litchi scale insects, such as ladybugs, wasps and predatory thrips. The natural enemies can be kept in a certain number by reasonable chemical protection or artificial breeding and release methods, which can play a better role in controlling litchi scale insects.
