Field Management of Lotus Root planting
Lotus root, also known as lotus root, belongs to the rhizome of the lotus family, which can be eaten or used medicinally. It is planted in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Guangdong and other places in China. The selection and breeding of lotus root mainly includes asexual seed selection and sexual cross breeding.
Asexual selection.
China is rich in lotus root germplasm resources, which provides good conditions for asexual selection. In recent years, varieties selected from superior clones include Kexuan 1, Elian 1, Zhe Hu 1, Wuzhi 2, Ganlian 85-4, Ganlian 85-5 and so on. The method of asexual seed selection is to extensively mobilize the masses in lotus root producing areas, and report individual plants with high yield, good quality, strong adaptability, strong disease resistance, extra early maturity or extra late maturity to the relevant scientific research departments or agricultural departments in time, and carry out asexual reproduction and promotion.
Sexual interbreeding.
Sexual hybridization is one of the effective methods to cultivate new varieties of lotus root, and it has been widely used in lotus root breeding. Sexual hybridization can make full use of the excellent characters of parents and purposefully cultivate new varieties such as high yield, high quality, strong disease resistance, extra early maturity or extra late maturity. In recent years, the new varieties cultivated by sexual hybridization are Elian 3, Yang Lotus 1, Elian 4, Xiangbailian 1 and so on.
Topdressing can be applied for 2-3 times. The first time when the standing leaves grow 1-2, the second time before the row is sealed, and the third time when the rear leaves appear. 2000-4000 kg of manure or 15 kg of urea was applied for the first time, 20-25 kg of compound fertilizer for the second time and 10-15 kg of urea for the third time. Early-maturing growers could only apply topdressing twice.
Weeds should be removed at any time before weeding and loosening the soil. when there are 1-2 pieces of lotus, the soil around the lotus root can be loosened by hand or hoe after fertilization to facilitate the growth of lotus whip. When loosening the soil and weeding, the load stem should be prevented from breaking.
In order to make the lotus whip evenly distributed in the field and avoid inserting into the ridge of the field, the growth direction of lotus whip should be checked at any time. Move to a rare place. When turning the lotus root head, first remove the soil from the first one or two sections of the lotus root to expose the bud head and lotus whip, and then use your hands to lift the lotus whip to adjust the direction and bury it in the soil. Do not pull hard to prevent the lotus whip from breaking. It is better to turn around in the afternoon on a sunny day.
Water layer management generally lotus root field can not be cut off. The depth of water layer should be controlled according to the principle of shallow in the early stage, deep in the middle stage and shallow in the later stage. In the middle of growth, the temperature is high, and the lotus stem is also high at that time, and the water depth can reach more than 20 centimeters. After the dry load, if the seed is retained to the next year, a certain depth of water layer should be maintained to prevent the soil from drying and cracking, freezing the underground stem in the cold winter, and preventing the soil from becoming hard and difficult to dig up after the dry field.
