Sophora flavescens, the name of traditional Chinese medicine. The dried roots of Sophora flavescens, a leguminous plant, were dug in spring and autumn to remove root heads and branchlets, washed, dried, or sliced fresh. It is bitter and cold. It has the function of clearing heat, dryness and dampness, killing insects and diuresis. For hot dysentery, hematochezia, jaundice and urination, red leucorrhea, vaginal swelling and itching, eczema, eczema, skin itching, scabies leprosy, external treatment of trichomonal vaginitis.

Growth habits of Sophora flavescens:

Sophora flavescens is wild in the sunny places of hillside grasslands, plains, hills, roadsides, sandy land and red soil. I like a warm climate. It is not strict to the soil, the general soil can be cultivated, but the loam or sandy loam with deep, fertile and convenient drainage and irrigation is the best.

Sophora flavescens is a deep-rooted plant, which should be cultivated in clay loam, sandy loam or clayey loam with deep, fertile, convenient drainage and irrigation. Apply fully mature compost or barnyard manure 3000kg per mu, mash fine and spread evenly, turn 40~50cm deeply, rake flat and fine, and form a high border 1.3m wide.

Reproduction method

Seed reproduction:

From July to September, when the pods of Sophora flavescens turn dark brown, harvest them for drying, threshing and winnowing, and set aside in the dry place. The seeds should be treated before sowing. Methods: the seeds were soaked in 40-50 ℃ warm water for 10-12 hours, then drained slightly before sowing, or sown by wet sand stratification (seeds and wet sand mixed with 1 ∶-3) for 20-30 days. In addition, treatment with 95%-98% concentrated sulfuric acid for 60 minutes can also increase the germination rate of seeds. From late March to early April, on the high border, the holes of 2~3cm were opened according to row spacing 50~60cm and plant spacing 30~40cm. 8-10 treated seeds were sown in each hole and covered with fine soil mixed with plant ash to keep the soil moist, and seedlings emerged in 15-20 days. Seedling height 5~10cm time seedling. Before freezing, the seeds can be planted directly, and there is no need to deal with the seeds, but also can raise seedlings and transplant.

Split root propagation:

Both spring and autumn can be carried out. It is planted after falling leaves in autumn and before sprouting in spring. Spring and autumn cultivation were combined with the harvest of Sophora flavescens. Dig out the mother plant, cut off the thick roots for medicinal use, and then cut into several plants with a knife according to the number of buds and roots on the mother plant, each plant must have 2 or 3 roots and buds. The seedlings were planted according to the above-mentioned plants and row spacing, and 1 plant was planted in each hole. Cover the soil and water thoroughly after planting.
