The monitoring results show that according to the same caliber statistics in 2008, the qualified rates of vegetables, livestock and poultry products and aquatic products in 2009 were 96.4%, 99.5% and 97.2% respectively. The level of quality and safety of agricultural products in China has improved steadily, and the overall situation has improved. At present, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and cities separately listed on the plan have established monitoring systems. Through the improvement of monitoring data collection and analysis and early warning mechanism, the establishment of quality and safety situation consultation mechanism, the formation of sampling and inspection separation system and inspection and strike linkage mechanism, initially put an end to the entry of unqualified agricultural products into the market.

The work of monitoring the quality and safety of agricultural products in China started in 2001. at present, key agricultural products and agricultural inputs are generally implemented in provincial capitals and major agricultural production areas, in the links of producing areas, wholesale markets and supermarkets, carry out routine monitoring, census and supervision of agricultural product quality and safety monitoring system. The first priority is to continuously deepen routine monitoring. In 2009, the types of monitoring products increased from 4 to 10, the parameters increased from 30 to 68, and the scope expanded from 36 to 259 large and medium-sized cities. By the end of 2009, a total of 115000 vegetable samples, 70, 000 animal products and 20, 000 aquatic products were tested, and 2.25 million valid data were obtained. The second is to carry out a general survey of hidden dangers in the quality and safety of agricultural products. Since 2000, the Ministry of Agriculture has conducted a general survey on the quality and safety of more than 10 kinds of agricultural products and agricultural inputs every year, and hundreds of thousands of traceable basic data have been obtained. The third is to strengthen supervision, spot checks and law enforcement penalties. Since the promulgation and implementation of the Law on quality and Safety of Agricultural products, combined with special rectification, a total of 10 large-scale supervision and spot checks have been carried out, with nearly 30,000 samples, including vegetables, fruits, edible fungi, live pig products, chicken, poultry eggs and aquatic products.

In 2007, the Ministry of Agriculture launched and implemented the "National Agricultural products quality and Safety Inspection system Construction Plan". Since the implementation of the plan, a total of 507 agricultural products quality and safety inspection institutions at all levels have been built, and the total number of quality inspection institutions has reached 2228. More than 36000 parameters of agricultural products can be detected, and a complementary testing network system has been initially formed at the four levels of ministry, province, prefecture and county.
