Cowpea (scientific name Vigna unguiculata), commonly known as carob beans, ginger beans, with beans, hanging beans. Cowpea is divided into cowpea and rice cowpea, belonging to the legume family. Cowpea is an annual plant of Leguminosae. There are three kinds of stems: dwarf, semi-vine and vine. In the south, trailing is the main cultivation, followed by dwarfism.

Morphological characteristics of cowpea

Annual, herbaceous vines or suberect herbs, sometimes apically twining. Stem subglabrous. Pinnately compound leaves 3-foliolate; stipules lanceolate, ca. 1 cm, inserted into a short distance, linear; leaflets ovate-rhombic, 5-15 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, apex acute, margin entire or subentire, sometimes lavender, glabrous. Racemes axillary, long pedicellate; flowers 2-6 clustered at the tip of inflorescence, often with fleshy dense glands between pedicels; calyx light green, campanulate, 6-10 mm long, lobed teeth lanceolate; Corolla yellow-white and slightly purplish, ca. 2 cm long, each petal petiolate, upper petal oblate, ca. 2 cm wide, apex retuse, base slightly auriculate, wing slightly triangular, keel slightly curved; ovary linear, hairy.

Pods pendulous, erect or obliquely spreading, linear, 7.5-70 (90) cm long and 6-10 mm wide, slightly fleshy and swollen or solid, with many seeds; seeds long elliptic or Terete or slightly reniform, 6-12 mm long, yellowish white, dark red or other colors. The florescence is from May to August. Leaves for Ternate compound leaves, 20~25cm long pedicels drawn from leaf axils, the first end bearing 2-4 pairs of flowers, white, red, lavender or yellow, generally bearing only two pods, pods slender, depending on the variety, about 30~70cm, with dark green, light green, red-purple or red spots and so on. Each pod contains 16-22 seeds, kidney-shaped, with red, black, red-brown, red-white and black-and-white seeds, with well-developed roots and pink nodules on the roots.

Comprehensive control of cowpea virus disease

Symptoms and transmission routes of cowpea virus disease:

The disease is a systemic symptom, the leaves appear dark green, light green flowers and leaves, sometimes chlorophyll accumulation, the formation of dark green vein band and atrophy, leaf curling and other symptoms. It is mainly caused by cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), cowpea aphid transmitted mosaic virus (CoAMV) and broad bean wilt virus (BBWV). The three viruses were non-persistent transmitted by peach aphids, bean aphids and other aphids in the field, and could also be transmitted by frictional inoculation of diseased plant sap and agricultural operations.

Comprehensive control methods of cowpea virus disease:

① selected disease-tolerant varieties such as cowpea 28-2, red-billed swallow and so on.

② can control aphids early.

③ should strengthen its management and improve its disease resistance.

In the early stage of ④, spray 1.5% Zhixianling Ⅱ emulsion 1000 times, or 83 enhancers 100x or 20% Kangshengsheng EC 500anth800 times, or 60% virus A tablets (add 2 tablets in 15kg water), or 20% Viagra 500 times, or 20% virus A wettable powder 500 times, or 6% virus gram or 20% virus Bike wettable powder 1000 times, or 38% virus 1 600 times 800 times Or compound Ke Bian Shen 500 times liquid plus phytoprotegerin 500 times solution, or virus King 500 times solution plus balance agent 300 times solution, or virus Sukeling EC 500 times solution plus Ke dry-cold yield increasing agent (zinc yellow humate) 500 times liquid spray, once every 7 MUE for 8 days, for 4 times in a row.
