The price is strong and the annual output of Australian Hawaiian fruit sets a new record.
2015 will be a bumper year for Australian macadamia (also known as macadamia nuts) growers, with national macadamia fruit production at an all-time high. The current production of shelled nuts with 10 per cent moisture content is 48300 tons (45100 tons based on 3.5 per cent moisture content), an increase of 10 per cent over last year's total production.
Although the quality of macadamia fruit varies from region to region, Australian processing companies generally say that the overall quality of macadamia fruit remained good in 2015, ACB News Australia-China Finance online reported. Jolyon Burnett, Executive Director of the Australian Hawaiian Fruit Association (AMS), attributed the high quality of macadamia nuts this season to the natural conditions of suitable temperature and humidity in each producing area and long harvest season.
In 2015, Australian Hawaiian fruit production finally broke the record, in addition to the climate factor, the price factor also played an important role. Mr. Bennett pointed out that the market price of Hawaiian fruit is superior at present, and the harvest season lasts until September. At the same time, under the stimulation of strong prices, growers in this season have made great efforts to maintain soil health and promote the combination of organic matter in order to increase production. In order to increase the root volume and promote the growth of fruit trees, manufacturers also apply a large amount of filter mud and waste ash.
Mr. Bennett pointed out that Hawaiian fruit production remained at a high level in all producing areas of the country. From a regional point of view, nuts produced on the north coast of NSW (Northern Rivers) account for 50% of the country's total output. Kunzhou Bundaberg also achieved good performance, with total output growing by a large margin again on the basis of higher output in 2014, accounting for 30% of Australia's total output. Other new producing areas have also performed well, such as the Emerald region of Queens, where the total production of macadamia nuts in the high-producing area is 1000 tonnes, accounting for 2 per cent of total output.
According to public data from the Australian Hawaiian Fruit Association, Australia is the third largest producer of Hawaiian fruit in the world, accounting for about 30% of the global market share, and the export market covers more than 40 countries. In Australia, the commercial production of Hawaiian fruit began in 1974 and has been developing and prospering from scratch in the past 40 years. at present, there are more than 850 Australian Hawaiian fruit growers, with an annual output of about 40000 tons of shelled macadamia fruit.
In recent years, with the increasing demand for Australian shelled nuts in the Chinese market, the trade relationship between Australia's Hawaiian fruit industry and the Chinese market is getting closer and closer. at present, Australia's total export of macadamia fruit to China has accounted for nearly 1 million of Australia's total output. In late November, in order to deeply expand the Chinese consumer market, Australian macadamia fruit industry agencies invested A $1 million to carry out product promotion activities in first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in China, with the aim of occupying China's high-end nut market.
