According to the weather forecast, the temperature is extremely low this year, so it may be very cold this winter, so we should pay more attention to the anti-freezing of wheat. Pay attention to help the wheat to be less affected by the bad weather. So how to prevent wheat from freezing?

Symptoms of wheat frost injury:

Winter freezing injury is caused by cold wave cooling of wheat from the beginning of winter to the overwintering period. According to the symptoms of wheat plants after freezing, winter freezing injury can be divided into two types:

The first type is severe freezing injury, that is, the main stem and large tillers freeze to death, heart leaves dry, generally occur in jointed wheat fields. Because wheat entered the jointing stage, the cold resistance decreased obviously, especially the development process of main stem and large tiller was earlier than that of small tiller.

The second type is general freezing injury, the symptom is that the leaves are yellow and white and dry, but the main stem and large tillers are not frozen to death. The first type of freezing injury will affect the yield, while the second kind of freezing injury has no effect on the yield.

Wheat anti-freezing measures:

1. Choose the right time for winter irrigation

Proper winter irrigation is beneficial for wheat to pass the winter safely. Winter irrigation can increase the heat capacity of soil and promote the growth and development of wheat seedlings. Wheat seedlings are strong and good for anti-freezing. At the same time, we should pay attention to winter irrigation when the temperature is 4 degrees Celsius. There is a risk of freezing injury if it is below 4 degrees Celsius. The result is just the contrary. The temperature should be controlled well. Remember: light does not freeze early, light does not need to be too late, and night freezing day is just right. That is, before the arrival of cold air, a winter irrigation is carried out.

2. Control prosperity and promote strength

When freezing injury occurs during the overwintering period of wheat, spraying wheat seedlings or cutting off roots with 0.3% Mel 0.5% Daizhuangsu solution can inhibit plant growth and resist or reduce the occurrence of freezing injury.

3. Fertilization

At the beginning of spring, spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate and foliar fertilizer of humic acid, alginic acid and amino acid in time can strengthen root and seedling, and foliar fertilizer of humic acid and alginate can provide resistance of wheat. At the same time, it can quickly promote the green of wheat.

4. Sowing in the right amount

Seed germination occurred during wheat harvest this year, and the germination rate and germination potential decreased greatly, so when sowing, the sowing amount can be increased appropriately, but it should not be increased too much. After sowing, the seedlings of barley are dense, grow high, and are vulnerable to freezing injury. Specific sowing rate, it is recommended to consult the local seed dealer, as well as a detailed understanding of the budding rate of the variety to determine.

5. Suppression after sowing

It is beneficial for wheat to compact the land through the winter, which can close the gap of the soil, thus improving the heat preservation capacity of the land. Especially after the straw is returned to the field, it should be suppressed.

6. Choked soil around the root

When wheat seedlings are about to stop growing before overwintering, combined with hoe and soil surrounding roots, wheat can be effectively prevented from freezing during the overwintering period, especially in years with severe freezing damage, which can generally increase production by 5% and 10%.

7. Cover dung

After the wheat enters the overwintering period, spreading a layer of manure along the ridge (commonly known as "warm dung") can protect soil moisture, increase temperature and prevent freezing, and replenish nutrients for the green growth of wheat seedlings. The thickness of manure should be 3-4 cm, and about 5 carts of manure per mu should be applied. When insufficient, priority should be given to late stubble wheat fields, shallow sowing wheat fields, sandy wheat fields and wheat fields sowing weak winter varieties.

8. Cover grass

Before winter, the application of 300-400 kg wheat bran, broken wheat straw or other plant wastes per mu can not only preserve soil moisture, but also prevent freezing. After decay, it can also improve the soil and fertilize the soil fertility. It is an effective measure for wheat to resist drought, prevent freezing and increase production.
