Okra (scientific name: Abelmoschus esculentus) is also known as okra, coffee okra, commonly known as croissant beans, eggplant, and in Pingxiang, western Jiangxi Province, China, the locals call it "foreign pepper." It is warm in nature, native to Africa near present-day Ethiopia and tropical Asia. It is not cultivated much in China. Americans call it "plant gold okra", is a good medicine to lower blood sugar. Okra can be deeply processed into flower tea, beverage, capsule, dried vegetables, oil and so on.

Okra, alias okra, is an annual herb of Malvaceae, with tender fruit for food.

I. Cultivation techniques

(1) It is appropriate to select production bases with suitable environmental conditions, such as fertile soil and soil rich in organic matter.

(2) Sowing seedlings can be direct seeding or transplanting seedlings. From late April to early May, when the temperature is stable at 15 C, germination and sowing are carried out. Before sowing, make the bottom nan in advance, then prepare the soil and fertilize to make it prosperous, open shallow trenches according to the row spacing of 33 cm, the depth of the trenches is 3 cm, sow seeds according to the plant spacing of 35~40 cm, sow 3~4 seeds on each pier, and cover the soil with the prosperous surface. The seedlings are sown in Yangwang or greenhouse in the middle and late March, and the bed soil is prepared according to 6 parts of garden soil, 3 parts of decomposed organic fertilizer and 1 part of fine sand. The seeds soaked for 1~2 days are placed under the condition of 25~30 C for germination. Before sowing, raise enough bottom water, after water infiltration, according to the plant spacing of 10cm X10cm, the soil thickness is 2~ 3cm, after sowing, keep the bed soil moist, the bed temperature is 25C, and seedlings begin to emerge one week later. The seedlings were planted when they had 3 true leaves and the seedling age was 30~40 days.

(III) Soil preparation, planting, deep ploughing and sunning for 10~15 days, applying decomposed organic fertilizer 3500 kg and nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer 30 kg to 1 mu, applying them to wagou or digging holes deeply. Seedlings should be thinned in time after they are unearthed. When seedlings have 2~3 true leaves and are 10~12 cm high, they should be planted. Frog width 90~100 cm, frog height 25 cm, planting 2 rows per mu, row spacing 65~70 cm, plant spacing 35~40 cm, planting 5000~6000 plants per mu.

II. Field management

(1) intertill weeding seedlings should be intertilled 2~3 times after planting, loosen the soil and improve

Ground temperature, combined with soil cultivation, promote root development.

(2) Water loss management requires maintaining high air and soil moisture throughout the growth period, especially during flowering and fruiting. After planting and slowing down seedlings, apply fertilizer for 1~2 times, apply 1500~2000 kg of human manure or 10~15 kg of phosphoric acid plating on 1 mu, and use 15~20 kg of nitrogen-phosphorus bait compound fertilizer as fertilizer for accelerating flowers. Foliar fertilizer can be sprayed at the later stage of growth.

(3) Pruning, beating and picking should remove the lateral branches in time. If they grow too much in the middle and late stages,

The base lateral branches and foot leaves should be cut off. Main branches up to 60 cm or so can be picked.

(4) Common pests Common pests include spiders, ants, ground tigers and bugs.

III. Timely harvest

Early maturing varieties flower at 4~6 nodes, fruit can be picked at 4~5 days after flower failure, fruit length 6~8 cm, single fruit weight 13 grams can be harvested and marketed. Harvesting should be carried out in the evening, there are bristles or thorns on the fruit, should wear gloves to harvest. Harvest once every 1~2 days, the whole growth period is 110 ~120 days, and 1 mu can harvest 1500~2000 kg.
