Orchids are delicate, so planting orchids should not only control various variables in the environment, such as light and water, but also apply fertilizer reasonably to prevent the threat of diseases and insect pests to orchids. Orchid stem rot is a common disease of orchid, which often coexists with orchid root rot. To deal with these diseases, we need to take appropriate measures.

Rescue techniques and control methods of stem rot of orchids

I. treatment techniques

1. Pull out the whole orchid, wash it, cut off both the diseased plant and the infected orchid plant, and thoroughly cut off the rotten false bulb with a blade.

2. Soak the orchid with a slightly concentrated fungicide (difenoconazole) and keep healthy after pruning for not less than 1 hour

3. Dry, then paste with nail cream zinc, seal the false bulb of the orchid, and then dry it.

4. Wrap the pseudo-bulb with sterilized aquatic plants and re-cultivate it with new pot and new soil.

5. after cultivation, do not water, do not bask in the sun, put it in a ventilated place

Soak thoroughly in clean water after 6 or 3 days, put it in a ventilated place and manage it according to the usual method (pay attention to less fertilization)

7. Soak the orchid basin with fungicides (slightly light) every month, and the orchid plant can be restored gradually.

II. Prevention and control methods

1. In the process of planting, the environment of orchid cultivation should be kept clean and well ventilated; orchids, orchid pots and plants must be disinfected before potting, and the plants should be well drained; wounds in orchids should be avoided, especially in order to prevent infection caused by insect bites in the soil. Insecticides can be applied in the soil; discarded and destroyed centrally.

2. At the initial stage of plant infection, if timely measures are taken to remove the disease spot, the plant can still be retained, but because of the reduction of leaf area, it is bound to affect flowering; if it is not found in time, the best period of prevention and treatment will be missed, coupled with the rapid development of the disease, the possibility of cure of the disease is very low.

3. Fungicides can be used for control, such as 72% agricultural streptomycin sulfate soluble powder 1000 times, 77% killing wettable powder 1000 times whole plant spray (including leaf back, leaf surface, head); 45% prochloraz emulsion 1500 times + tetracycline powder 2000 times + 50% enylmorpholine wettable powder 2000 times solution, whole plant spray (including leaf back, leaf surface, head) Antaisheng 500x + prochloraz 1500 times + streptomycin sulfate 500x solution, the whole plant was sprayed (including leaf back, leaf surface, head). It has been reported that 80% allicin EC, 20% miconazole wettable powder and Lifukang 50% chlorobromoisocyanuric acid soluble powder have good bacteriostatic effect.

What is the stem rot of orchids?

Stem rot, also known as Fusarium wilt and wilt, is caused by Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium oxysporum, and carrot soft rot Erwinia. The two bacteria produce symbiosis, mutating the second generation of hyphae, and because of the symbiosis of soft rot bacteria. It is a kind of orchid disease with high incidence and serious loss in recent years. The peak of the disease is from May to September every year, and the earliest onset can occur in February; the environment of high temperature and humidity is more conducive to the rapid development of the disease.

Symptoms of stem rot of orchids

The typical symptom of the disease is that the old grass begins to turn yellow. The core leaves of the old grass start yellowing from the base, then develop rapidly from the bottom up, and from the inside out, a seedling of the old grass will wither and die within 1-2 days. If touched by hand, the whole grass will break from the ring of the petiole. Inexperienced Lan you often think that they are fading old grass, but by the time the disease continues to develop and more strong grass falls down, it is often incurable.

Several common diseases of orchids

1. Rot. Caused by mildew, the general damage is the base of leaves, seedlings and roots. The reasons are that the root is cut off when the orchid plant is dug, it is damaged during transportation, there is Pythium in the culture soil, the cultivation base fertilizer is too much, human feces and urine are watered, and the water quality contains salt and so on. The light ones rotted the roots, the leaves turned red, the seedlings withered and the arrows withered until they died.

2. Black spot. Black spots appeared on the leaf surface, which gradually expanded, and in severe cases, it spread to the whole tissue, which made most of the leaves withered and black, lost the ornamental value of the leaf type, and led to the poor growth of orchids.

3. White silk disease. It is a disease caused by bacteria, which mostly occurs during the rainy period at the turn of summer and autumn. There is a layer of white filamentous mycelium spread at the base of the leaf sheath and next to the pseudobulb, which can cause the orchid plant to die quickly.

4. Brown rot. It's a bacterial disease. It mainly occurs on new leaves and pseudobulbs. In the early stage of the disease, watery spots first appeared on the leaves and pseudobulbs, then turned light brown, gradually turned dark brown, the affected surface was folded, and water-wet halos appeared around it.

5. Anthrax. It is the most serious disease in Cymbidium and Jianlan. At first, yellow dots appeared and gradually spread into dark brown spots.

When the orchid stem rot occurs, it will show that the old leaves are withered and yellow, this symptom is easy to be ignored, and it is considered to be a normal metabolic phenomenon of orchid plants, so orchids must be carefully identified. In addition, the editor also summarizes some other orchid diseases and their symptoms, which can be used for reference to the management of orchids.
