Due to the great demand for lilies in the market, planting lilies is also a flower planting technology that many flower farmers must master. Those who have raised lilies generally know that lilies generally like a humid environment, and the sunshine is better. Let's introduce the specific planting techniques of lilies and the places we need to pay attention to in the planting process.

Planting method of lily

1. Soil preparation

Lily avoid continuous cropping, afraid of stagnant water, should choose deep, fertile, loose and well-drained loam or sandy loam planting. The land should be turned 30 centimeters deep, and the base fertilizer should be rotten, applying barnyard manure 2500~3000kg per mu, retting cake fertilizer 100~150kg, calcium superphosphate 20~30kg, raking into the soil, leveling for the border, and opening a deeper drainage ditch around to facilitate drainage.

Some varieties of Asian and iron lily can be planted in neutral or slightly alkaline soil, while oriental lily is required to be planted in slightly acidic or neutral soil. If the soil pH value is not suitable, it should be improved. Lily is sensitive to soil salt, so after the first stubble flower harvest, it is necessary to use flood irrigation to wash salt or change soil, otherwise the second stubble flower may appear iron deficiency yellowing physiological disease. Crop rotation should be carried out for 3 to 4 years in the old producing areas.

2. Seed ball selection

The Asian lily bulb had better use the circumferential 12~14cm bulb, and the 10~12cm bulb can also be used. In addition to using circumferential 12~14cm bulb, other varieties can use circumferential 10~12cm bulb.

Oriental lily bulb specification should be above the circumference of 16cm, some varieties can also choose 14~16cm bulb. Planting balls should be intact and free from diseases and insect pests.

3. Planting

The planting time mainly depends on the listing time of cut flowers and the growth period of lily varieties. it can be planted in Kunming every year, and in terms of normal flower production, cut flowers are listed from late November to early January and can be planted from late August to early September; if you want to produce flowers continuously from November to April of the following year, the bulbs can be refrigerated and taken out and planted before January. Planting density varies with variety, bulb size and season. Asian hybrids 50 and 55, oriental hybrids and musk hybrids 45 and 55, the same variety, the big balls are thinner and the small ones are denser, and the weak sunshine in winter is thinner than that in spring and autumn. The planting depth is about 6cm in winter and 8cm in summer.

4. Soil, fertilizer and water management

Lily likes to be moist during its growth, but it is afraid of waterlogging. After planting, it can be irrigated once, and then it can be kept moist, not too humid. It is necessary to lack water in flower bud differentiation stage, budding stage and post-anthesis low temperature treatment stage. Lily likes fertilizer, topdressing fertilizer 3-4 weeks after planting, mainly nitrogen and potassium, less and diligent. But avoid alkaline and fluorine-containing fertilizers, so as not to cause burning leaves. Under normal circumstances, acidic fertilizers such as urea, ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate can be used, and chemical fertilizers such as compound fertilizer and diammonium phosphate should not be used.

5. Light and temperature management

Lily is sensitive to temperature, and there are three key periods in management. In the first period, the temperature should not exceed 30 ℃ within 20-30 days after planting, and the temperature of Asian lily should not exceed 25 ℃. The second stage is from budding to cut flower harvesting, if the temperature is lower than 5 ℃ or higher than 30 ℃, calyx will be cracked. The third stage is the post-anthesis low temperature treatment stage, in which the maximum temperature in the daytime should be controlled below 15: 18 ℃ and the minimum temperature should be controlled above 0 ℃. Summer production should be moderately shaded to lower the temperature.

Soil requirements of lilies

1. Lily requires that the soil is rich in humus, the soil layer is deep and loose, and it is best to maintain a properly moist and well-drained sandy loam soil, and lilies must not be planted in clay.

2. Lily likes slightly acidic soil, the suitable soil pH value of Asian and musk lily is 6-7, and the suitable soil pH value of oriental lily is 5.5-6.5. lily is generally not salt-tolerant, the contents of fluorine and chlorine in soil are less than 50mg/L, and the total soil salinity does not exceed 1.5ms/cm.

Harvesting and storage of cut lily flowers

1. Harvest: at least 2-3 buds will be harvested after transparent color. Early harvest affects the color of the flowers, the flowers will look pale and ugly, and some buds can not open. If harvested too late, it will bring difficulties to the treatment and packaging after harvest, the petals will be soiled by pollen, and the flowers that have opened will release ethylene, which will greatly shorten the shelf life of flowers.

2. Treatment: after harvest, remove the lower 10 cm leaves, and then grade and bind them. A grade of 10 centimeters is appropriate. Lilies bundled in a bunch, the longest and shortest branches preferably no more than 5 cm, aligned at the top of the flower.

3. Storage: the bundled lilies should be immediately put into clean, pre-cooled water, and then into the cold room, the best temperature for water and cold room is 2-3 ℃.

Planting time of lilies

The suitable planting time is from August to September. Apply enough base fertilizer one month before planting and turn the soil deeply. Compost and plant ash can be used as base fertilizer. Planting should be deeper, the general depth is 3-4 times the diameter of the bulb, in order to facilitate the rhizome to absorb nutrients.

Potted plants should be carried out from September to October. The cultivated soil should be mixed with rotten leaf soil, sandy soil and garden soil at the ratio of 1:1:1, and the basin bottom should be fully mature compost and a small amount of bone powder as base fertilizer. The planting depth is generally about 2-3 times the diameter of the bulb.

I believe that after reading the above lily planting technical articles, you should have a more in-depth understanding of planting lilies. In fact, as long as we plant lilies once, we will find that lilies are actually very easy to grow. And the lilies are very beautiful, and the lilies look very pleasing to the eye!
