Soilless cultivation is a relatively new cultivation technique, which does not need to use soil. The most common ones are hydroponics and fog culture. Now many people use this technology to cultivate crops anytime, anywhere, and at home. Watermelons, a large fruit, can also be cultivated at home.

Techniques of soilless cultivation of watermelon

1. Use porcelain pots or plastic bags with a diameter of 30 cm and a height of 45 cm, with 15 cm pebbles in the lower part and 80% to 90% clean river sand in the upper part.

2. Sow the sprouting watermelon seeds in the river sand, sow two watermelon seeds in each pot, and finally leave a strong seedling, or raise the seedlings in a nutrition bag and then transplant them into the river sand and ignore the true leaves. When the seedlings grow true leaves, the transplanting seedlings begin to pour nutrient solution after survival, the dosage of each plant is 200mur500g, once up and down, the dosage can be smaller in the seedling stage, and can be caused in the later stage. When the temperature is high and the light is strong, one can be watered at noon, and each plant can retain only one main vine or one side vine, resulting in two melons.

3. Keep 7 Murray 8 leaves in front of the melon. Other management is the same as general cultivation. The formula of the nutrient solution is as follows: urea 15 g, calcium nitrate 5murm 10g, dihydrogen phosphate 3.5Muth4g, potassium nitride 1.8g, ferric trichloride 0.35Mel 0.4g, borax 5.6g, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate and zinc sulfate 1.5g each, and the PH value of the nutrient solution is 5.5Muel 6.

What is soilless cultivation

Soilless cultivation uses peat or forest rotten leaf soil, expanded vermiculite and other light materials as seedling substrate to fix plants, let plant roots come into direct contact with nutrient solution, and adopt mechanized precision sowing to form seedlings at one time. The seedling plate is divided into compartments, sowing one grain and one seedling, and the root system and the substrate are intertwined with each other, and the root block is in the shape of a stopper on the top and bottom, which is generally called soilless breeding.

How to supplement carbon dioxide in soilless culture of watermelon

Carbon dioxide is not only an important raw material for photocooperation in watermelon to produce nutrients, but also an important factor to determine the yield and quality of watermelon. Soilless cultivation of watermelon is carried out in greenhouse, and watermelon absorbs carbon dioxide very quickly. Because there is no organic fertilizer, there is less carbon dioxide. Therefore, the lack of carbon dioxide is an important limiting factor in watermelon production. According to the experiment, the application of carbon dioxide can promote the fruit setting and fruit expansion of watermelon, which can obviously increase the yield. Now, carbon dioxide topdressing abroad has become an indispensable measure in soilless cultivation. The specific methods of replenishing carbon dioxide in the greenhouse are as follows:

1. Open the window for ventilation. After 10:00 in the morning, under the premise of not affecting the room temperature, window ventilation is opened to supplement the deficiency in the greenhouse with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

2. ammonium bicarbonate is added to sulfuric acid to produce carbon dioxide.

3. Use dry ice or compressed carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide generators and burning white kerosene are generally used abroad to produce carbon dioxide.

How to increase the temperature of liquid supply in soilless cultivation of watermelon

No matter which form of soilless culture, the temperature of nutrient solution directly affects the growth of watermelon root system and the absorption of water and mineral nutrients. The suitable temperature for root growth of watermelon is 18 ℃-23 ℃. If the temperature of nutrient solution is below 28 ℃ or below 13 ℃ for a long time, it is disadvantageous to root growth. Soilless cultivation of watermelon in greenhouse is easy to cause the problem of too low temperature, so the heating measures of nutrient solution can be taken to make the liquid temperature meet the requirements of root system. If it is a gravel pot or trough planting method, you can try to set the cultivation container above the ground and maintain a suitable temperature in the greenhouse to increase the temperature of the root system.

Why are watermelons the product of summer? Because watermelon has a good effect of relieving summer heat and relieving thirst, it is a sacred product to relieve summer heat. Almost every family buys watermelons every summer. Watermelons can be made into a variety of food or drinks, so the cultivation of watermelons is a good business opportunity.
