Garlic seedling is a common item in the kitchen, and it is a good helper for housewives. Small-scale families grow garlic seedlings and do not make money from it, so they can plant as long as they like, but for large-scale batch cultivation, planting technology is very important.

How to plant garlic seedlings

There are two ways to sow garlic seedlings:

1. Strip sowing will prepare graded garlic cloves, open trenches 3 cm deep according to row spacing of 13-16 cm, plant spacing of 3-4 cm, place garlic cloves, then seal the soil, cover soil depth of 2-3 cm, firm. Separate sowing of large and small leaves makes the seedlings grow neatly and is convenient for management, harvesting and listing. The dosage of strip sowing garlic is 150kg to 250kg per mu.

2. the whole garlic will be placed on the cultivation bed end by end. The garlic is as tight as possible. the gap between the garlic is filled with loose garlic cloves. 15 to 20 kilograms of dried garlic are needed per square meter. When the size of the garlic is uneven, you can pad the sand or soil under the garlic, so that the top and bottom are uneven, and after planting, you have to pat it with a plank, which can not only make the garlic stick closely to the sand or soil below, but also overcome the problem of uneven and difficult to manage after planting. But heart buds have been exposed can not be done. After planting, the border surface is covered with 3 cm thick fine sand, rake flat and pat solid, and shoot again every 3 days, in order to prevent the phenomenon of "jumping garlic" on the top of garlic when growing roots, and it is also more convenient for cutting garlic seedlings.

Scientific planting techniques of garlic seedlings

The main results are as follows: 1. Select excellent varieties and do a good job of planting garlic seedlings in summer and autumn and strive to select excellent early-maturing and multi-clove garlic varieties. Garlic seedlings should be separated before planting, divided into three levels according to large, medium and small lobes, and the separated garlic seeds should be soaked in well water (low water temperature) for 12 hours to break the dormancy of garlic seeds and promote quick sprouting.

2. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, sow in ploughing the land at the right time, and apply sufficient base fertilizer at one time after opening the "three ditches". Base fertilizer generally applies rotten soil residue manure, urea 20 kg, phosphate fertilizer 50 kg, potash fertilizer 15 kg or high-quality three-element compound fertilizer 50 kg per mu. Under the condition of sufficient base fertilizer, the seeds can be sown from early August to early September, or from late September to late October.

3. Reasonable close planting and strengthening field management should be carried out to hoe and sow seeds. Generally, the row spacing is 10-15 cm, the plant spacing is 3-5 cm, and the seed garlic is 150-200 kg per mu. When planting, you can scatter the garlic cloves into the hoe trench, use both hands according to the spacing, and cover the soil with your hands while sowing to prevent the garlic cloves from tilting. Water thoroughly immediately after sowing, and cover the soil once after watering. Water was poured twice after 3-4 days, and 20 kg of ammonium sulfate was applied with the water. After fertilization, water was watered every two days for 3 times in a row. Cover the soil for the second time when the seedling is 20 cm high. At the same time, pay attention to spraying to control diseases and insect pests after emergence.

4. protect seedlings from sun exposure, timely harvest summer and autumn garlic seedlings in high temperature in the early growth stage, you can build a 1-meter-high flat shed, which is covered with sunshade net or straw to prevent sun exposure and withering seedlings. Cover before 8: 00 a.m. every day and withdraw after 5: 00 p.m. When the garlic seedlings grow to a height of more than 20 centimeters, they begin to be harvested, which can either be pulled out or cut. Harvest every 10 to 15 days, apply fertilizer once for each harvest, and apply 20 kg of urea per mu to water. In this way, it can be cut continuously until the Spring Festival.

Planting time of garlic

The planting time of garlic depends on the local climatic conditions and varieties. Different growth periods have different requirements for temperature. The planting season of garlic is in autumn, usually from late September to early October, and the harvest season is between spring and summer of the following year. The most suitable period for garlic planting is to make the plant grow to 5-6 leaves before overwintering, when the plant has the strongest cold resistance, will not be frozen to death in the cold winter, and lays a good foundation for the plant to pass vernalization smoothly. The Yangtze River basin and its southern areas are generally sown in mid-and late September. The area north of the Yangtze River needs to be sown in August because of the cold climate.

The harvest of garlic

1. Collecting garlic bolting: bolting can be done when the bolting extends 6cm away from the leaf sheath. Some varieties with strong growth can be easily broken because of the thicker garlic bolting, so the method of shaft binding can be adopted, that is, using a bamboo stick, sharpening the end, holding the bolting in one hand, and inserting it into the stem with the bamboo stick in the other (5-7cm from the ground of the pseudo-stem), cutting off the garlic bolting, and then bolting out.

2. Harvest garlic: garlic can be harvested about 25 days after garlic stalk harvest (when pseudostem lodging). Other varieties of pseudostem without lodging can be harvested when the basal leaves begin to turn yellow and the outer layer of garlic becomes thinner. If mature garlic is not harvested in time, especially in the case of rain and high soil moisture, the outer layer of garlic skin is very easy to blacken and rot, and easily lead to loose cloves. The number of leaves is large, the pseudostem is thick and long, the garlic stalk is thick, the garlic head is big, the garlic clove is big, and the commercial quality is good. Therefore, large cloves of garlic should be selected as seed as possible when sowing.

Planting garlic seedlings needs to choose the right time, and at the same time, we need to choose good garlic seeds, and good seeds are half the success. in addition, harvesting is also a very important link. In short, if you want to achieve high yield and high profit of garlic seedlings, it takes a lot of thought and energy from the growers.
